St Joseph's Hospice

St Joseph's Hospice St Joseph's Hospice helps people in East London to live life to the fullest, to the very end. 💙

We have been enhancing lives, easing pain and bringing comfort and understanding for over a hundred years. Nothing can soften the blow of learning that you have been diagnosed with an illness which cannot be cured and will bring an end to your life. But at St Joseph’s Hospice we help our patients and those closest to them, to cope with the anxiety and challenges which may arise. St Joseph’s broad

range of services enriches the lives of patients and their families from the diverse communities of east and north-east London. St Joseph’s is available to all those who can benefit from it; we work to meet all the needs of our patients, including those which reflect their ethnic, cultural or religious heritage. The care and treatment available at St Joseph’s helps patients live as actively as possible for as long as possible. It also supports the whole person, offering practical, emotional and spiritual help in addition to the medical care. The Day Hospice, social work team, chaplaincy, bereavement and children’s bereavement services all work to meet the needs of those with cancer and other life limiting illnesses as well as those of their families and carers. Most people with a serious illness prefer to remain at home if they can. Our Community Palliative Care Team works alongside other professionals, so that wherever possible, people needing palliative care can be cared for in their own homes.

Clapton➡️Stamford Hill➡️Tottenham➡️Edmonton... then back again! 🙌

Our brilliant bus driver friends have done it again!

After walking the Number 19 route last summer, this year they decided to cover their whole patch. They created a 12 mile route between their garages, meaning a much bigger group could take part (including Marley the dog 🐾)

Many of the drivers were previously based at Ash Grove bus garage opposite the Hospice, making this a cause close to their hearts. We're thrilled to share that they've raised £743, bringing their fundraising total to more than £1,350!

Well done and thank you for your incredible support ❤️

This month, Elliot's, Sune Restaurant ,escocesa, Berber & Q, rogues_ldn and E3.vegan
have been adding an optional £1 donation to customers' bills, helping raise vital funds and awareness for St Joseph's Hospice.

It's all part of our Great East End Eats campaign taking place this summer, celebrating the amazing local food and drink scene whilst helping to spread the word about what we do.

A huge thank you to the teams and customers who have supported the campaign so far 💙

Lucky enough to get a place in next year's two-day TCS London Marathon? 👀

Like Ruby did in 2026, why not join using your ballot place to help raise the vital funds we need to keep caring for people across East London facing a life-limiting illness.

You'll be joining an amazing team of runners supporting the Hospice, with perks including support from our friends at LDN PHYSIO, a welcome brunch to meet your fellow runners, plus plenty of encouragement from our team along the way.

We ask everyone who runs for St Joseph's Hospice with their own ballot place to raise as much as they can to support our work. There isn't a fundraising target, so you can focus on raising whatever feels achievable for you. 💙

Our Garden of Celebration is now open 💛

On Saturday we welcomed 150 visitors to the Hospice for the opening of this summer’s display of beautiful ceramic flowers, each one dedicated to someone loved and missed 🌼

We’re so pleased to tell you that for the second year running, we’ve sold out of flowers. Even better, your support has helped raise over £18,000: the highest total to date. As a local charity that receives around half of its funding from the NHS, support like this is absolutely essential. So to everyone who bought a flower in memory of someone special, thank you!

The flowers will stay on display in our gardens for the next month before going to their new homes. Our grateful thanks also go to Hanna Salomonsson (Oknytt Ceramics) for her skill and creativity, as well as the volunteers and staff who helped make this event possible.💛

Our CEO, Rachel Black, joined volunteers from St Joseph’s Hospice and six other London hospices on Saturday to take part in the London Pride parade as part of the London Hospices LGBTQ+ Network 🤝

Rachel said: "It was brilliant to be part of the vibrant and joyful Pride march alongside colleagues and volunteers from other London hospices, celebrating the wonderful diversity of our communities. For me, attending Pride was about showing up as an ally and making it clear that St Joseph’s Hospice is here for everyone. I hope that by being there, we helped extend the warm welcome that St Joseph’s is known for."

A huge thank you to everyone who marched with us! 🌈💙
