Kubata is Kimbundu, ancient language spoken in Angola meaning house/home. Capoeira also has its origins in Angola, hence Kubata da Capoeira Antiga.

Kubata’s goal is to promote the social integration thru the ancient art of capoeira. The objective of Kubata is to develop socio-cultural integration thru capoeira. What is capoeira? Capoeira is an Ancient African Martial Art further developed in Brazil, by the slaves that were taken there by the Portuguese. This African Martial Art disguised as a dance was later the ve

hicle to freedom as slaves used these fighting techniques to fight their oppressor. Thru music, played with different musical instruments like the Berimbau, Atabaque, Pandeiro and other musical instruments, capoeira is an Ancient African Arte that promotes motor coordination, and rhythm. It can also be used as self-defense, or physical conditioning, acrobatics and corporal-expression, musicality and even for Portuguese learning. It doesn’t limit ages nor genders, all are welcome. What is Kubata? Kubata is a word from the ancient African language, Kimbundu, spoken in Angola meaning house/home. Capoeira also has its origins in Angola, hence Kubata da Capoeira Antiga (House of Ancient Capoeira).

What a great day at Beckenham!

Kubata Capoeira Antiga London, UK did a presentation about Capoeira Antiga and was lovely to see so many people enjoying it, singing and clapping with us.

The children were super nervous but thank you all that cheered and supported them. This will go a long way in building their confidence 🙂
