Today is Childhood Day, and we're reflecting just how much being a child has changed.

πŸ“± UK teens now spend an average of 35 hours a week on smartphones – the equivalent of a full-time job
πŸ‘« Time spent with friends has fallen by 65% since smartphones became mainstream
πŸ’¬ 2 in 3 children say they struggle to put their phones down

And what they’re seeing online matters:
πŸ‘‰ 70% of young people have encountered real-world violence on social media
πŸ‘‰ 80% say seeing weapons online makes them feel less safe in their communities
πŸ‘‰ 68% say it makes them less likely to go outside

We’ve seen the impact with our own eyes, and now the data backs us up. Study after study confirms that smartphones, and the social media platforms they unlock, are fundamentally reshaping childhood. From anxiety to attention, social connection to sleep, the effects are deep, measurable – and moun...

We're still smiling after an amazing day at the Hackney Half πŸ’œ

Our cheer point was full of energy, noise and support for the most incredible group of runners. Together, they raised an incredible Β£10,000 πŸ‘ We’re so grateful to every single person who ran half the marathon, cheered encouragment and donated.

Feeling inspired? Why not take on your own challengeβ€¦πŸƒ

Congratulations Pat on 10 amazing years! πŸŽ‰πŸŽˆπŸ€

From joining in 2016 as a part-time Charity Manager – and our only employee at the time – to now leading the Ben Kinsella Trust as CEO, Patrick has been at the heart of an incredible decade of growth.

What started as a small Islington-based charity has become a national force for change. Over the years we’ve expanded our reach, built a strong team, connected with nearly 50,000 young people through our exhibitions, launched new locations in Nottingham and Barking & Dagenham, and trained over 9,000 adults who work with young people.

β€œWhile I may often be the public face of the organisation, the progress we have made over the past decade is a result of the incredible commitment of Ben’s parents and sister Brooke to stop what happened to them happening to another family. It also reflects the dedication of our exceptional team, the commitment of our trustees, and the strength of the organisations we work alongside.

Most importantly, it is shaped by the young people we reach every day through our workshops and programmes, whose experiences and voices continue to drive and inform everything we do.

I am proud to play a part in that collective effort, and incredibly grateful to have been part of this journey over the past 10 years.” Patrick Green, CEO at the Ben Kinsella Trust πŸ’œ

We were proud to welcome the Minister for Crime and Policing, Sarah Jones MP: Standing up for Croydon, and Victims Commissioner Claire Waxman OBE to our Barking Exhibition during Knife Crime Awareness Week πŸ‘

From meeting a local primary school group, to hearing directly from our Youth Ambassadors during the roundtable discussion, the visit placed young voices firmly at the heart of the conversation on tackling knife crime.

A powerful reminder that real change starts by listening, working together, and empowering young people to shape their futures πŸ’œ

🚨 TONIGHT: REAL STORIES, REAL PEOPLE – LIVE Q&A 🚨
I am incredibly honoured to be joining a very special live webinar TONIGHT (Thursday 21st May) from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM!

As part of Knife Crime Awareness Week 2026, the Ben Kinsella Trust is hosting "Real Stories, Real People" β€” an interactive LIVE Q&A that builds on their award-winning podcast series.

This isn't just another online meeting; it is a supportive, safe space designed to connect us all through open conversation, reflection, and the powerful voices of those with lived experience of knife crime.

I will be on the panel representing MMAP Pathways CIC and Knife Crime Victim Support, and I am deeply humbled to be sharing this space with three extraordinarily strong mothers who have turned unimaginable grief into action:
* πŸ’œ Katherine Johnson, mother of Kamari Johnson
* πŸ’œ Leeann White, mother of Ava White
* πŸ’œ Kelly Brown, mother of Rhamero West

The Ben Kinsella Trust has put together a truly impactful 1.5-hour session, featuring story-sharing segments and a live, moderated Q&A. It’s an opportunity to ensure that no one carries their story alone, and to help our community feel more informed, supported, and less isolated.

During the event, you will also be invited to sign the 'Trusted Adult' pledgeβ€”a simple commitment to learn the warning signs and help keep young people safe.

Please, join a like minded community tonight. Let's stand together, listen, and learn how we can stop the heartbreak and reduce serious
v!olence across the country

⏰ WHEN: TONIGHT, 6.30pm – 8.00pm
