Polish Cultural Institute The Polish Cultural Institute in London showcases contemporary Polish culture for Britain's multicultural audience.

Based in London, the Polish Cultural Institute is dedicated to nurturing and promoting cultural ties between the United Kingdom and Poland, both through British exposure to Poland 's cultural achievements, and through exposure of Polish artists and scholars to British trends, institutions, and professional counterparts. The function of the Polish Cultural Institute is to showcase contemporary Poli

sh culture for Britain's multicultural audience, particularly in London as it is truly the leading global cultural capital, but also around the whole of the UK. Our programme covers the visual arts, design, architecture, fashion, film, theatre, music and literature. Flagship projects supported by the Institute include, amongst others, festivals such as the annual ‘Kinoteka’ film festival and ‘Shakespeare & Poland’ at the Globe, art exhibitions, such as the recent ‘Conversations with God: Jan Matejko’s Copernicus’ at the National Gallery and ‘Young Poland: An Arts and Crafts Movement (1890 – 1918)’ at the William Morris Gallery and public art – such as the unveiling of the statues of Irena Sendler in Newark and Jan Kochanowski at Anne Hathaway’s Cottage in Stratfordupon-Avon, and ‘They Went to Sea’, an interactive mural by Jola Kudela in Donacaster.

✍ 📖 It was another fantastic literary evening at Ognisko Polskie - Polish Hearth for "An Evening with Krzysztof Siwczyk and Piotr Florczyk around the book: A Calligraphy of Days" on Friday 29th May.

📚 The intimate evening brought together poetry and literature lovers to hear Krzysztof Siwczyk talk about his recent poetry collection "A Calligraphy of Days" published by Seagull Books and translated by Piotr Florczyk, who was also present. The audience had the chance to listen to extracts of poetry in both English and Polish and ask plenty of questions to the author and translator.

The event was organised by the Polish Cultural Institute in London, Ognisko Polskie - Polish Hearth and the Polish Book Institute Instytut Książki

REMINDER: An Evening with Krzysztof Siwczyk and Piotr Florczyk around the book “A Calligraphy of Days”

We would like to remind you of an engaging evening with Polish literature in an event organised by the Polish Cultural Institute in London at Ognisko Polskie - Polish Hearth and supported by the Polish Book Institute, Instytut Książki.

"A Calligraphy of Days”, published by Seagull Books, contains verses that oscillate between the turmoil of post-communist Eastern Europe to understated reflections on grief and mortality. The sixty-four poems in “A Calligraphy of Days” reflect Krzysztof Siwczyk’s wide-ranging and variegated style.
