πŸ–€ We All We Got.

This Black Breastfeeding Week, we're celebrating 15 years of community, care and collective power.

We recognise that Black families can face unique challenges and inequalities in their infant feeding journeys, making support, understanding and community more important than ever.

πŸ’¬ Who or what helped you most during your feeding journey? Whether it was family, friends, a support group, or a healthcare professional, we'd love to hear your story.

πŸ–€ Black Breastfeeding Week is a time to celebrate Black families, recognise the importance of culturally responsive infant feeding support, and raise awareness of the inequalities that still exist. Every family deserves compassionate, evidence-based breastfeeding support that respects their experiences, values and choices.

Throughout this week, we'll be sharing information, practical tips, and details of the support available to help parents and families on their feeding journey.

Together, we can help ensure every family feels seen, heard and supported.

Though the recommended room temperature for babies is 16 – 20Β°C, keeping your baby's room temperature in this range can be harder in summer or in a heatwave!

We want to remind you that in really hot weather, it's fine to dress your baby in just a nappy, or a short sleeve vest. Research shows that babies are safer being cooler than being too hot, as overheating increases the risk of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS).

It might also help to:
- Open the bedroom door and a window, if it’s safe to do so, to allow the air to flow.
- Use a fan to cool the room, but don’t aim it directly towards the baby.
- Keep curtains closed in the daytime so the room doesn’t heat up as much.
- Use a thermometer to check the room is the right temperature – as it’s hard to guess.

But even after doing all of the above in this heat, it can be frustrating when the room is still hot and it's out of your control. So for peace of mind, continue following all of our safer sleep guidance πŸ‘‰ https://bit.ly/4hXVWfq

πŸ’› World Breastfeeding Week 2026: Celebrating What Works πŸ’›
This World Breastfeeding Week, we're celebrating the people, places and support that help parents and carers on their breastfeeding journey.
