Two days to go...

Did you know that the funds raised from our Oktoberfest go towards enriching the school life of the children of Judith Kerr Primary School? Over the last few years this has included providing improvements to the outdoor space like the trim trail and Early Years play areas, and the creation of the beautiful forest area.

Talking of the forest area, for the second year running we'll be hosting the Secret Adventurers' Club there.

Secret Adventurers' Club is a brilliant South East London-based nature club for children. They encourage children to spend time outdoors, learning through play by exploring their natural world. The Club is running a few sessions for children throughout the day, and there are still some spaces left. Head to the link below to book, then on the day just drop your kids off for a session of forest school fun whilst you enjoy a local beer, a pretzel or two and some live music!

Three days to go!

We're furiously baking Lebkuchenherzen for the hungry hordes of children (and adults, let's face it) who love gingerbread.

If you were to head to Munich for Oktoberfest, you would see these traditional souvenirs all over the place - a Wiesn heart is a very popular gift or decoration. The hearts are often decorated with messages of love such as "ich liebe dich" or "I mog di".

According to , the first written records of gingerbread date back to 350 BC, and Lebkuchen as we know it today - containing spices such as anise, cinnamon, and cardamom - dates back to the 12th century in Dinant, Belgium. This tasty snack has a long heritage.

If you're coming with children on Saturday, make sure you bring them to the gingerbread stall, where they can get creative decorating their Lebkuchenherz with icing, smarties and mini marshmallows!
