"It might be around enjoying their food. It might be around sitting down with their family and enjoying a meal together." - Lorna

For our dietitian Lorna, being a dietitian in a hospice is not about calories, protein, or vitamins. It's about listening, then building a plan around what actually matters to the person in front of her.

For one of the patients on our wards, it was spending time in our Sydenham garden, feeling the fresh air, with a dog, and the newest member of the family close by.

And here they are.

We know that the moments that matter most are different for everyone. Whether it's sunshine, family, a pet, or the joyful presence of a 3-month-old baby, we're committed to helping people create precious memories in the time they have.

Elliot Dallen Trust has made a third generous donation to St Christopher's, bringing the total amount they have donated to nearly £30,000. This most recent donation of £8,104 was towards the purchase of two specialist rise and recliner chairs, which will make the lives of many patients significantly more comfortable.

The Elliot Dallen Trust was set up in memory of Elliot Dallen, who died aged just 31, after being diagnosed with metastatic adrenocortical carcinoma at 29. Elliot was cared for by St Christopher's in 2020 towards the end of his life. Elliot himself left money to his charity, and the Trust continues to raise money by supporters undertaking sponsored personal challenges and by holding fundraiser events.

Towards the end of his life, in the socially distanced lockdown months, Elliot wrote some articles about his experiences that were published in the Guardian and were read by millions. For Eli, it meant returning to the cycling he loved. For Muriel, it meant reconnecting with family. For others, it's the chance to spend precious time together.
