We work across Kensington and Chelsea, Westminster and Hammersmith and Fulham to enable anyone aged 50 or older to sustain their physical and mental fitness, maintain an active lifestyle and develop new and stimulating interests. This National Diabetes Week, we're celebrating the power of food, learning and community. 🍅🥬

At our Healthy Eating International Cookery class, members don't just learn new recipes - they discover how ingredients can support their health, build confidence in the kitchen and inspire positive lifestyle changes.

Led by expert tutors, these hands-on sessions explore healthy dishes from around the world while bringing people together to learn, share experiences and enjoy good food.

Because healthy eating isn't about giving things up – it's about discovering new ways to enjoy food and take care of your wellbeing. 💚

🌟 Happy Volunteers’ Week! 🌟

This week, we're celebrating the incredible people who help make Open Age such a welcoming, vibrant community.

From leading activities and sharing specialist skills, to supporting members one-to-one and helping people regain confidence after illness or injury, our volunteers make a real difference every single day.

Whether it's cheering on members through Be Active, Frances bringing London's history to life on her walks, or Patricia helping others discover the joy of Mahjong, our volunteers don't just give their time – they help people stay active, stay curious and stay connected.

Thank you to every Open Age volunteer for your kindness, energy and dedication. You help create the friendships, confidence and sense of belonging that make our community so special. 💜

If you'd like to make a difference in your local community, you can find our volunteer opportunities here: https://www.openage.org.uk/volunteer-us

Staying active doesn’t always mean the gym. Sometimes it’s fresh air, gentle movement, learning something new and connecting with others 🌿🐦

At Open Age, our activities help older Londoners stay active, stay curious and stay connected - whether that’s through exercise classes, creative workshops or spending time in nature together. Bird watching is a chance to move more, boost wellbeing and enjoy the simple joy of being outdoors with others.

Because staying active is about feeling good - physically and mentally. 💛

Falls are now the leading cause of accidental deaths in older adults in the UK - a shocking reminder of how important falls prevention really is.

But falls prevention is about more than avoiding injury. It’s about confidence, independence and helping older people feel safe leaving the house and staying connected to their community.

Open Age’s Steady and Stable programme helps older Londoners improve balance, strength and mobility through specialist exercise classes designed to reduce the risk of falls.

As one member shared:
“Previously, I felt quite isolated and rarely left the house, but now I feel comfortable going out and no longer worry about it.”

Every week, around 170 people take part in our Steady and Stable classes across Westminster, Kensington & Chelsea, Hammersmith & Fulham and Brent - helping older people stay active, independent and connected.

Learning a new language isn’t just for planning your summer holiday ✈️

Trying out Spanish, or any other language, is a brilliant workout for your brain. As we get older, keeping our minds active is just as important as staying physically active. Learning a language can boost memory, improve concentration and increase mental flexibility. 🧠

If you fancy learning how to confidently order your favourite meal in another language, join the Open Age community and explore our classes 👉 www.openage.org.uk
