TS Steadfast. Kingston Sea Cadets and Royal Marines Cadets

23/09/2026

Last night, our Ship’s Company took part in an evening focused on leadership and teamwork.

The cadets worked through a range of different leadership tasks and scenarios, challenging them to think on their feet, communicate effectively, make decisions and work together as a team.

We also discussed the importance of leadership, why good leaders are needed and what makes an effective leader. It was great to see the cadets getting involved, sharing their ideas and stepping outside of their comfort zones.

A big thank you to Assistant District Officer – Lt (SCC) Katie Purcell RNR, who joined us last night to support the cadets and help deliver the evening. Your support was greatly appreciated.

A fantastic evening of learning, development and building the next generation of Sea Cadet leaders! 👏⚓️

Another great day on the river joined by Merton Sea Cadets doing some rowing and power boating practice their skills. Good to have a good amount of cadets out on the water while the good weather last.

🚣‍♂️ Back on the Water! 🌊

Sunday was our first Sunday back at cadets after the summer break, and it was great to see our cadets back out on the water!

The cadets enjoyed getting back into rowing and making the most of the water, building their teamwork, confidence and rowing skills.

We were also joined by Merton Sea Cadets, who came out on the water with us and joined in the rowing session. It was fantastic to have both units working together and enjoying a great afternoon on the water. 🤝⚓

A brilliant way to get the new term underway! 💪🚣‍♂️

🐉 Kingston's Dragon Boat Festival is back this Sunday, 19th July!

Whether you're racing, cheering from the riverbank or enjoying a family day out, be sure to stop by the Sea Cadets stall and say hello.

This year we’re bringing an even bigger collection of 3D printed dragons - from pocket-sized companions to our show-stopping, jaw-dropping 2m-long blue dragon! 🐲✨

If you’re feeling brave enough, come and choose your very own dragon. Every dragon purchased helps support our Sea Cadets unit.

The latest and greatest: Ageing out, ranking up, and recognising achievement!

It's been a fantastic period at the unit as we've celebrated some important milestones.

Aging out: After almost six years of dedicated service, LC Joseph is ageing out of the unit. We'd like to thank him for everything he's contributed over the years and wish him every success in whatever comes next. Fair winds and following seas!

Ranking up: Congratulations to our newly promoted cadets AC Arthur and OC James. Your hard work, commitment, and leadership have earned this recognition. We’re excited to see you grow into your new roles.

Outstanding achievement: A huge congratulations to OC Vincent, who has been awarded the Jack Petchey Outstanding Achievement Award. This award recognises his dedication, positive attitude, and contribution to the unit. A thoroughly deserved achievement!

And a big welcome to our newly appointed uniformed staff members, PPO Barnaby and PPO Melissa.

A great afternoon on the water today as three of our staff joined colleagues from TS Saumarez for a powerboating skills session, learning from one of their experienced staff members!
A fantastic opportunity to develop our skills on the water — watch out cadets, we're coming for you! 💪🚤🛟

Huge congratulations to our two teams who competed in the London Area Sailing Regatta this weekend, finishing 2nd & 4th in the Quest Open Class.

A special shout out to OC James and OC Arthur who secured their place at the National Sailing Regatta in September for the second year running! 🏆

A brilliant effort by all in challenging wind-less conditions.
