The BAATN Men's Gathering is for male therapists of Black, African, Asian and Caribbean heritages, alongside other people of colour affected by racism and global white power.

Together we create space to connect through shared experience, explore our inner journeys, and find support, inspiration and community with one another.

These gatherings are not therapy groups. They are community spaces where we can speak openly, listen deeply, and learn from each other's experiences.

Facilitated by Rotimi Akinsete, Eugene Ellis and Dennis L Carney.

We stand with Henry Nowak's family and loved ones.
We echo Mark Nowak's call for compassion, community safety and an end to division and hatred. Community, care and conversation matter deeply at times like this.

As many people prepare for holidays, rest, family time or simply trying to keep cool during the current heatwave, we are also preparing to welcome a new cohort this Saturday onto the BAATN Decolonising Therapeutic Practice course.

At a time when many communities are navigating racism, anti-migrant rhetoric, polarisation and growing social division, therapy does not sit outside of the wider world around us. These realities enter the therapy room through lived experience, identity, relationships, history and the body.

This in-person course offers space for reflection, dialogue, challenge, learning and community. Together we will explore culture, race, power, belonging and therapeutic practice in thoughtful, relational and embodied ways.

We look forward to welcoming the new cohort this Saturday begins in North London.

Dr Aileen Alleyne’s forthcoming book, *Navigating Racial Landscapes: Wholeness and Wounds*, offers a deeply reflective exploration of race, psychotherapy, identity and relational practice.

Drawing on decades of experience as a psychodynamic psychotherapist, supervisor, educator and organisational consultant, Aileen explores the emotional, relational and political realities of navigating race within therapeutic and predominantly white institutional spaces.

Rather than offering quick fixes or ready-made scripts, the book invites readers into a more embodied, reflective and courageous engagement with race, difference and relationship.

Recent council election gains by Reform UK and the wider political climate may be bringing up fear, exhaustion, grief, anger or uncertainty for many people and communities.

For Black communities, Global Majority communities, migrant communities and others already navigating racism, marginalisation or exclusion, these moments can carry a particular emotional weight.

At times like this, community care matters deeply.
So do rest, conversation, connection and spaces where people feel seen and supported.

You do not have to hold everything alone.

BAATN remains committed to supporting the emotional wellbeing of our communities and creating spaces for reflection, healing, dialogue and care.

Mental Health Awareness Week

Mental health is not just individual. It's shaped by community, culture, safety, belonging and the spaces where we feel able to be heard.

At BAATN, we recognise the importance of culturally aware therapeutic spaces and collective support for Black, African, Asian and Caribbean communities, SWANA communities, East and South East Asian communities, and Global Majority people affected by racism.

This year’s theme is Action, and sometimes action can look like conversation, rest, boundaries, therapy, community, or reaching out for support.

Sabina Khan shares a childhood memory of growing up under apartheid in South Africa - where segregation shaped even the smallest moments of joy, belonging, and safety.

In this powerful oral history, Sabina reflects on race, exclusion, and the experience of being policed as a brown child simply for entering a public paddling pool.

These testimonies matter. They remind us that racism is lived in the body, remembered through place, and carried across generations.

Thank you to .global for preserving and sharing stories that might otherwise be forgotten.
