⚽💙 In Bartın, a sports club for children with autism and disabilities found that some of the biggest changes happened away from the track.

Bartın Autism and Disability Support, Education and Solidarity Sports Club (BOEDSK) set out to make regular sport more accessible. Between March and May:

🏃 Athletics, bocce, table tennis and swimming
📅 50+ training sessions, with around 90% regular attendance
👕 Sports kits for 20 athletes, so everyone trained as one team, and professional sports shoes for 9
🌧️ A treadmill for bad weather and for athletes who need balance support
🌱 10 athletes who had not exercised regularly before began keeping track of their own training days

The change reached families too. 25 parents took part in progress meetings, and two teams of mothers competed in the Mothers' Bocce Championship in Safranbolu. 🏆 A project focused on children's access to sport had grown into one where whole families could take part. 💛

New athletes have since applied to join, and the equipment stays with the club so volunteer coaches can continue the sessions. 🤝

This was made possible by Türkiye Mozaik Foundation’s Sports Giving Circle, which supported SAHADAYIZ Association’s in-kind grant programme. By removing practical barriers to participation, the programme helped more children and young people take part in sport, build confidence and feel part of a team.

Through the first grant from our Ageing & Caregiver Support Fund, the Alzheimer’s Association of Turkey (Türkiye Alzheimer Derneği) delivered a three-month home-based care programme supporting 81 households.

Trained nurses and psychologists visited families in their own homes, providing:
🏠 Practical guidance on daily care and home safety
🩺 Nursing support tailored to each household’s needs
💙 Psychological support for caregivers, including help with stress and difficult behavioural symptoms

Across the three months, the programme included 40 nursing visits and 41 psychologist visits, giving families access to professional support where they needed it most.

For caregivers, these visits were also an opportunity to ask questions, feel heard and better navigate the demands of caring for a loved one.

By bringing medical and psychosocial support into the home, this project helped make dementia care more accessible, dignified and supportive for both individuals and the families who care for them.

📣 “Elma Labrador Çimen” is coming to London for one night only!

Türkiye Mozaik Foundation is delighted to host this acclaimed production at The Place, London, with all net proceeds supporting our Ageing and Caregiver Support Fund.

Adapted from Matthew Seager's award-winning play In Other Words, “Elma Labrador Çimen” follows a couple looking back on fifty years together as they navigate Alzheimer's, music, love and memory.

The production brings acclaimed actors Engin Hepileri and Nergis Öztürk back together on stage, directed by Onur Ünsal, with original music by Kenan Doğulu.

🏆 The production has received six theatre awards, including Play of the Year and Actor of the Year from the Theatre Critics Association, alongside Best Actor, Best Actress, Actor of the Year and a Special Awareness Award from other leading theatre award organisations in Türkiye.

There are moments when you understand the meaning of giving not through numbers, but through a conversation, a shared meal, or a room full of people welcoming you in. 🌿

For Duygu Ergin, that meaning came together in small moments in Hatay: sitting with women who'd turned a craft into a livelihood, listening to a community leader describe how hard it had been to ask for help in the first place, watching young surf trainers speak about their future. 🌊

It was about staying long enough to really see people; their patience, their worries, their hopes and their determination. Staying long enough for familiar names and projects to become real people, stories and connections.

Duygu left Hatay feeling inspired, grateful and even more committed to the organisations she had met. 💛

Her reflections are a reminder that the Mozaik community is built not only through giving, but through the connections that giving creates.

💛 For people with disabilities and their caregivers, everyday life can come with barriers to support, social life and basic rights; challenges made harder in communities still recovering from the February 2023 earthquakes.

With our support, Samandağ Women’s Solidarity Association (Samandağ Kadın Dayanışma Derneği) made Samandağ Women’s Life Centre more inclusive and accessible, supporting people with disabilities and their caregivers through workshops, psychosocial support, respite activities and rights-based referrals.

The project supported people with disabilities and their caregivers, while the team also worked with local institutions to advocate for more inclusive public services. 🌱

One of the project's most powerful moments came at the final concert, when 17 people with disabilities took to the stage in front of hundreds of people in Samandağ, performing as a choir and folk dance group. 🎶💃

For people who had previously been hesitant to take part in public life, the performance was a chance to be seen not only as people who need care, but as people who can perform, contribute and take their place in the community.

Inclusive spaces can open up more opportunities to participate, connect and belong. 💛

Some journeys stay with you long after you return.🧳

For Sedef Çelikcan, Hatay was a collection of unforgettable encounters with women, young people, artists, and community organisations, each revealing a different side of the work supported by Mozaik.📍🫂

What stayed with her was how far a small piece of support can travel when it reaches the right hands.

She left with a renewed appreciation for the power of giving: that a contribution’s size says little about what it can make possible when it reaches the people who know their communities best. 💛

Her reflections capture something at the heart of Mozaik: bringing people closer to the organisations and communities they choose to support. 🌱

⚽💛 After the February 2023 earthquakes, a group of women in Adıyaman came together and formed a football team: Gökyüzü Şutlayıcıları ("Sky Strikers").

What started as a way to cope has grown into something bigger; a space where women build confidence, support each other, and claim their place in public life. 🌱

The team plays regular matches on a pitch allocated free by the local municipality, alongside community meet-ups and awareness events, including an International Women's Day gathering that reached around 100 people. 👥 They also held a one-night solidarity camp for 34 women and children; a chance to rest, connect, and spend time away from daily pressures. 🏕️

The numbers speak for themselves: the initiative set out to welcome 10 new women. It welcomed 24; simply through women inviting each other in. 📈

For many women, especially after loss and displacement, sport becomes a rare space of their own: one to move, breathe, and rebuild a sense of belonging. That's what this grant made possible; not just a football team, but a community holding itself together.

Thanks to SAHADAYIZ Association’s in-kind grant programme, made possible by Türkiye Mozaik Foundation's Sports Giving Circle, barriers around equipment, facilities and transport are being removed; so women in Adıyaman can keep showing up for each other, on and off the pitch.

💛 What does deep poverty look like in everyday life?

For many single mothers, it can mean choosing between paying the rent and buying groceries, struggling to afford school meals or menstrual products, or staying in an abusive situation because there is nowhere else to turn.

In our interview, Açık Alan Derneği - Derin Yoksulluk Ağı (Open Space Association - Deep Poverty Network) discuss how the economic crisis is affecting families living in deep poverty, and why women’s poverty is closely linked to unpaid care work, insecure employment and limited social protection.

With support from our Gender Equality Fund, the association supports single mothers through grocery vouchers, psychological counselling, legal and healthcare support, education assistance and help with essential household needs.

But the work goes beyond immediate support. By listening to women, understanding their needs and connecting them with relevant services, the project aims to help women feel less alone and gain greater control over their own lives.

As the interview shows, sometimes support begins with simply listening and finding solutions together.

🔬A career in health and life sciences begins with the chance to experience it first-hand; but that access to universities, laboratories and role models isn't always easy to come by.

With our grant support, Payda Association brought together 25 young people from disadvantaged regions of Türkiye for its 4th Science Camp. Over a week, students explored health and life sciences through laboratory workshops, career talks, hands-on activities and campus life. 🧪🎓

Many participants travelled outside their hometowns, stayed on a university campus or met academics face-to-face for the first time. They also discovered emerging fields such as artificial intelligence in healthcare while building confidence, making new friendships and gaining a clearer vision for their future.

Thank you to our donors for helping more young people imagine and pursue the futures they dream of. 💙
