Agatha is coming to Warwick Arts Centre University of Warwick next weekend! 🎥 🌱

Join us for a special one-off screening of AGATHA’S ALMANAC, a beautifully observed documentary portrait of 90-year-old Agatha Bock, who lives independently on her ancestral farm in rural Manitoba, Canada.

Filmed over six years by director Amalie Atkins, the film offers a gentle yet powerful reflection on self-sufficiency, resilience, seasonal living, seed-saving, and our relationship with the natural world. Through Agatha's daily rituals and deep connection to the land, AGATHA’S ALMANAC invites us to consider a slower, more intentional way of life.

🎟️

In a world shaped by speed and excess, 90-year-old Agatha Bock’s off-grid life offers another path.

For a Swiss family of eight, life unfolds at sea. For over 20 years, the Schwörers have sailed the globe, raising six children onboard while dedicating their lives to conduct field-based research in the world’s most remote regions and inspire young people to protect the planet.

Filmed over seven years, HOME IS THE OCEAN is a warm and intimate portrait of a family redefining ideas of home, learning and togetherness. But when a violent storm strikes, they must reconsider the unconventional choices that have shaped their world.

Two films we can’t stop thinking about. UK Green Film Festival 2026 is coming to Phoenix Leicester with one-off screenings this June-July.

AGATHA’S ALMANAC (Sun 21st June 15:00) quietly pulls you into the world of 90-year-old Agatha Bock, who still lives and works on her family farm completely by hand. Shot over six years on beautiful 16mm film, it feels less like a documentary and more like stepping into someone else’s rhythm of life. It’s funny, moving and unexpectedly comforting. 🎟️ https://www.phoenix.org.uk/whats-on/programme/agathas-almanac

BLACK WATER (Thu 2nd July 18:00) looks ahead to a future that already feels frighteningly close. As rising seas threaten to swallow huge parts of Bangladesh, the film follows the human reality behind the headlines and statistics; families being pushed from their homes, cities stretched beyond breaking point, and the question of where millions of people are supposed to go when the water keeps rising. 🎟️ https://www.phoenix.org.uk/whats-on/programme/black-water
