8 years. £1m in grants. 14 projects funded.

Since launching, The National Brain Appeal’s Innovation Fund has helped turn promising ideas into projects with the potential to improve care, treatment and support for people with neurological conditions.

By providing early-stage funding, the Innovation Fund gives teams at Queen Square the opportunity to test new approaches, build evidence and take their work to the next stage.

This impact has been made possible thanks to generous support over the years from our Ambassadors for Innovation, Rosetrees, and The Q Charitable Trust.

Thank you for helping make innovation possible at Queen Square 💙

Congratulations to Professor Sarah Tabrizi, who has been awarded a CBE in the King’s Birthday Honours for services to people with Huntington’s disease.

Professor Tabrizi is Professor of Clinical Neurology and an honorary consultant neurologist at The National Hospital.

She says, “I am deeply honoured and humbled to be recognised in the King’s Birthday Honours. This award reflects many years of collaborative effort with an extraordinary community of researchers, clinicians and, above all, individuals and families affected by Huntington’s disease. I am profoundly grateful to the patients and families who have worked alongside me and contributed to research over many years – their commitment makes progress possible, and their resilience and tremendous courage inspires everything I do.”

At The National Brain Appeal, we are pleased to see Professor Tabrizi’s outstanding contribution recognised in this way.

A huge well done to Victoria Phillips, who completed the Bath Half and raised over £1,500 for Rare Dementia Support (RDS), a service proudly funded by The National Brain Appeal.

Victoria ran in support of her soon-to-be mother-in-law, Jane, who has a rare form of young-onset dementia.

Victoria says, “The support from RDS has been vital in navigating this life-changing diagnosis. The support groups and specialist advice not only provide support for Jane, but for the whole family.”

Thank you Victoria for your incredible support 💜

💜 This Carers Week, we’re highlighting the importance of specialist support for people affected by rare dementias.

Rare Dementia Support, funded by The National Brain Appeal, provides information, guidance and connection for people living with, or affected by, a rare dementia diagnosis, including families, friends and carers.

For carers, having access to people who understand the specific challenges of rare dementias can make a huge difference. RDS helps create space for shared experiences, practical advice and meaningful connection.
