Britain-Palestine All Party Parliamentary Group Co-Chairs Andy McDonald MP and Debbie Abrahams MP demand further sanctions on Israel for death penalty law.

https://caabu.org/news/news/britain-palestine-appg-co-chairs-demand-further-sanctions-israel-death-penalty-law

In their letter to the Prime Minister Rt Hon. Sir Keir Starmer, they call on the UK Government to sanction those responsible for Israel's death penalty law, that will make hanging the default punishment for Palestinians, and suspend the UK's trade agreement with Israel. In the letter, they echo the widespread condemnation of repeated Israeli breaches of international law from the international human rights community, "pointing to this as further evidence of the potential crime of apartheid by the Israeli state, as Palestinians in the occupied state are specifically singled out under this legislation."

Over 1 million people have been forcibly displaced from their homes in Lebanon by Israel, 20% of Lebanon’s population. The Gaza playbook used throughout its genocide against Palestinians is becoming ever more apparent in Lebanon.

“Caabu is needed more than ever”

At our 7 March Iftar with Action For Humanity - International in Manchester, Andy Burnham, Mayor of Greater Manchester, reflected on his engagement with Caabu, including our delegation to Palestine he joined in 2012, and why, especially in our current political climate, Caabu’s work remains so important.

119 UK MPs call for further sanctions on Israel and a total ban on all trade and interaction with illegal Israeli settlements

https://caabu.org/news/news/119-uk-mps-call-further-sanctions-israel-and-total-ban-all-trade-and-interaction-illegal

Writing to the Foreign Secretary, they call on the UK government to impose a complete and total ban on all trade and interaction with Israeli settlements and the occupation itself, further sanctions against illegal Israeli settlers and settler groups, and for the UK government to publish, as it has promised, its formal response to the International Court of Justice's (ICJ) Advisory Opinion on the unlawfulness of the occupation.

Commenting on this, Caabu's Head of Parliamentary Affairs, Joseph Willits, said:

"The ethnic cleansing of Palestinian communities across the occupied West Bank continues at pace, if anything, intensifying as Israel carries out its bombing of Iran and Lebanon, and continues its genocide in Gaza, in the hope that its total erasure of Palestinian communities will go unnoticed. Or that settler violence will be deemed something minor and trivial. The UK Government has recently promised "concrete steps", but what are they? Palestinians and others, including Parliamentarians in the UK, have been waiting for decades to see what action will be taken. As ever, successive UK governments can never say they didn't know about Israel's war on such communities and the attempts to destroy them."

Your Ramadan donation helps maintain direct pressure on MPs and ministers, so that we can continue to push the UK government to start to hold Israel accountable for the ongoing genocide and its regime of apartheid against Palestinians.
