Steve Reid Foundation Set up by Gilles Peterson in memory of drummer Steve Reid. A variety of fundraising activities are planned.

Steve Reid was an amazing drummer with a long and illustrious history that stretched from working with James Brown, Miles Davis and Fela Kuti through to his own Steve Reid Trio and more recently working with Kieran Hebden (Four Tet). He died from throat cancer in the US in 13, April 2010 without the money for treatment that could have saved his life. The Steve Reid Foundation works closely with ot

her charities to aid the plight of struggling musicians, especially those with long-term and life threatening health problems. LA Fire fundraiser on 26th Jan - save the date!

It’s hard to express the sadness in seeing the devastation caused by the LA fires this month and to imagine what it must be like for so many to face the loss of their homes and the need to rebuild their lives and the communities that bind them.

Within our own music community we have seen important artists lose not just their possessions but significant parts of our shared cultural heritage - from to Bennie Maupin and Sheila E to Brijean and more.

So we’ve decided to gather our community and, in partnership with the hold an event to raise funds towards helping our brothers and sisters rebuild and move forward.

Thanks to for getting us their space at such short notice and all the DJs who immediately gave us a resounding yes to being there.
