VACANCY: If you're interested in transforming food systems, proactive and strong at comms, why not apply to join our team...

We at the Food Ethics Council are looking for a part-time Communications lead based in the UK to take the lead on designing and delivering communications that support us to engage with our key audiences and tell strong authentic stories about the work we do in the food system. For more information, including how to apply to join our small, dynamic team, please see the link in the comments.

Note: We want to work together to combat structural causes of injustice in food and farming. We warmly and actively encourage applications from people from diverse backgrounds. We recognise that candidates from Black, Asian and Minoritised-Ethnic backgrounds are under-represented in our organisation and that there are often additional barriers present for people from these groups when applying for roles in the charity sector and beyond. We are committed to taking positive action to expand the diversity of our staff team, and if you meet the essential criteria for a role and are from a minority ethnic group, you’ll be guaranteed a first stage interview. It is important to note that this scheme guarantees an interview for candidates who meet the minimum criteria and tell us that they’d like to be considered under the scheme. The selection decision at interview will be based on the most suitable candidate, regardless of any protected characteristic.

Some of our Council members and team have brilliantly described why you should support the Food Ethics Council:

🧩 “The work we do is hard to fundraise for. Creating careful spaces where people can disagree constructively and decide what to do together doesn't fit neatly in many boxes. We are thoughtful, purposeful and brave. And trying every day to enable people in the food system to, in the words of adrienne maree brown, move at the speed of trust."

💪 “It's Big Give week, when your donations will be match funded. Here's a small-size big-impact charity that would welcome your contribution. The food system affects everything - your health, your pleasure, animal life, climate change, the health of the whole planet. Please give generously!"

🪑”The Food Ethics Council is serious about transformation, we 'provide constructive provocations, convene diverse voices and champion actions for better food systems'. I feel lucky to support this work as council member and trustee. In case you can support them with a small, medium, or large, donation during the Big Give, pls do"

❓”What does it take to shift how we think about food - not just what we eat, but who decides, who benefits, who's left out? That's the work of the Food Ethics Council. A small but mighty charity, creating space for people across the food system to think more clearly about difficult questions."

🌏 “In a time of massive global change, challenges and instability the role of the Food Ethics Council within our food system and society has never been more important as they continue driving and facilitating change to help us all collectively do, live and eat better. Donations to support this fantastic charity this week will be DOUBLED by Big Give. 🤩 👏"

⚖️ “Champion a positive change - a gift to the Food Ethics Council can do that. I encourage those who champion equitable change to give during The Big Give!"

Thank you in advance for your support 🙏

The Food Ethics Council challenges power, champions equitable change and creates conditions for sustainable policy & decision making. We empower ethical action for fairer UK food systems. Your support for our Roots & Routes workshops will create a radical shift for the future of food.…
