This week we say farewell to the amazing Charlotte Giblin as she leaves us to start her DClinPsy next month. Charlotte has spent three years in the role of Co-ordinator for the National Acquired Brain Injury in Learning & Education Syndicate (N-ABLES). She has brought so much to N-ABLES (and to UKABIF), and has been an absolute joy to work with!

20th Anniversary Celebration Dinner
Come celebrate with us and enjoy dinner and live entertainment at Norwich Assembly House, a beautiful venue in the heart of the city. The event kicks off at 7:30 on Thursday 10th September. Tickets cost £45 and can be purchased alongside your OPSYRIS registration on Eventbrite.

Live Hybrid Conference
The annual OPSYRIS meetings provide a platform for showcasing a broad range of work on psychological aspects of stroke and clinical stroke services, and aim to facilitate communication and collaboration between researchers and clinicians. We welcome everyone with an interest in psychological research into stroke. The event will be held at The University of East Anglia, Norwich, UK on Friday September 11th 2026.

The 2026 hybrid meeting will available for both in-person and virtual attendance. The programme will include both oral and poster presentations, as well as invited talks and short workshops. We will also be awarding an outstanding early career researcher or clinician with the OPSYRIS Rising Star prize.

In person registration closes August 21st 2026, with virtual registration closing September 9 2026. Day-of in person registration will be charged at £65 and catering may not be available.

This APIL-accredited Introduction to Brain Injury training course is returning to central London on Wednesday 9th September 2026 as a one-day course, following the success of its first run. Designed for junior solicitors, experienced practitioners looking to specialise in brain injury cases, and case managers, this course provides expert-led insight into the challenges faced by individuals and families affected by brain injury.

The course serves as a refresher for those returning to the field, as well as for legal executives and paralegals, and offers excellent background knowledge for other members of the brain injury team who assist and support clients.

It is also intended to provide a real understanding of the fundamentals of running a successful brain injury case. 6 CDP Points will be awarded for this course.

UKABIF is pleased to offer space for poster presentations at the 2026 UKABIF Summit. We welcome submissions on any non-commercial topic related to acquired brain injury. This is a valuable opportunity to share your work with professionals, families, carers, and individuals with lived experience.

You are also invited to enter the UKABIF Poster Award. This award looks for designs which are able to communicate the project effectively to a non-specialist audience, making it ideal for research projects that need to be explained in a clear and accessible manner. This award is open to posters that have been presented at previous events and the winner will be rewarded with £100, free UKABIF membership for one year and free admission to the 2027 conference.

It is not mandatory to enter your poster for the Award, you can still submit a poster for presentation and choose to opt out of the award process as part of your abstract submission.

Abstract Submission deadline: Monday 31st August 2026, 5pm.

If you know someone who makes an award-worthy contribution to the field of acquired brain injury please make a nomination. The Award seeks to recognise and celebrate the most innovative and credible project or concept in the management of Acquired Brain Injury, and to provide the winner with support to advance their project. This could include anything from improving an aspect of neurorehabilitation in hospital, the community, school, prison or even in connection with sport-related concussion.

Entrants must demonstrate originality, viability, feasibility and desirability in their project or concept to be eligible, and the winner will receive support from NIHR to take their project to the next level.

Don’t miss this amazing opportunity to be recognised and rewarded for your innovative ideas! Entries must be submitted by 31st August 2026.
