Applications are now open for the BPF Music Industry Mentorship Programme 🎶

This programme is for people aged 18+ from South Asian backgrounds who are based in the UK and interested in building a career on the business side of the music industry.

Selected mentees will receive 1:1 guidance from experienced music industry professionals, including mentors from Warner Music Group, and gain insight into areas such as marketing, digital strategy, catalogue, legal, publishing, live and more.

No formal music industry experience is required. Just curiosity, commitment and potential to your application.

BPF Urdu Calligraphy Intro Workshop with Nayab Ahmed | Arabic & Modern Calligrapher ✒️
An introduction to Urdu Nastaliq!

Join BPF and Calligraphy & Lettering Artist Nayab Ahmed for an evening exploring the history and alphabet of Urdu Nastaliq script.

For many, Nastaliq is instantly recognisable as the elegant, flowing script of Urdu - seen across poetry, literature, handwritten letters, newspapers and everyday visual culture. Its distinctive diagonal movement and suspended forms give Urdu its wonderfully expressive character.

In this relaxed, beginner-friendly workshop, Nayab will introduce you to the visual language of Urdu Nastaliq through simple letters, connections, words and composition. We’ll explore how the script moves across the page before creating a calligraphic piece of our own.

No previous calligraphy experience is needed - just come curious and ready to experiment!

We’ll explore:
✒️ The history of Nasta’liq in relation to Urdu
✒️ Basic letterforms and strokes
✒️ Writing simple Urdu words
✒️ Creating your own calligraphic name to take home
