We are delighted to launch the Jack Petchey Places & Spaces Fund, a major £2 million investment to improve and transform spaces for young people across London and Essex.
Created in honour of our founder, Sir Jack Petchey CBE, it is an addition to our annual investment of over £10.7m in grants and programmes. The new fund will support youth organisations and uniformed groups to refurbish, upgrade and reimagine the places where young people learn, connect, build confidence and develop their voice.
With the importance of place-based investment in young people and their communities being highlighted in the Government’s Youth Matters strategy, which emphasised the need for safe, inclusive and high-quality local spaces that strengthen belonging, participation and opportunity for young people, we feel we can make a real difference with this fund.
Over the next two years, the Places & Spaces Fund will award grants between £5,000 and £25,000 to eligible organisations currently delivering the Jack Petchey Achievement Award Scheme.
Youth Voice is a core principle of the Foundation and will be central to this fund too. We believe young people should help shape the spaces designed for them. We will encourage this happens through the application process, and how we as a Foundation select which applications are successful through dialogue with our wonderful Youth Consultation Panel members.
We are now open to Expressions of Interest, and youth organisations and uniformed groups can apply and find out more here: https://www.jackpetcheyfoundation.org.uk/jack-petchey-places-spaces-fund/
