Nyumbani UK & The Hotcourses Foundation

Nyumbani UK & The Hotcourses Foundation We provide education for children affected by HIV in Kenya. www.nyumbani.org.uk Everything that every child deserves.

We need your help to fund our schools in the Nyumbani Village, a community established to serve 1,000 orphaned children from the worst start in life. From a hospice for three children nearly 30 years ago, we are now a globally recognised leader in paediatric HIV treatment and community-based holistic care programmes, serving close to 10,000 orphans and vulnerable children in Kenya. We know that me

dicine alone is not enough to help the children cope with the stigma of HIV and build their own pathways out of poverty. That's why we provide access to healthcare, education, counselling, practical life skills, nutritional advice, food for needy families, and in many cases even a loving home. Nyumbani has offices in the UK, the US, Spain, Italy and Ireland. Each country fundraises for specific projects in order to increase transparency and accountability. Our UK Board funds Nyumbani Village schools and our scholarship programme within eight slums around Nairobi, spurred by our belief that education is key to delivering a better future for the children.

In Africa, when girls stay and finish secondary school, the chance of getting HIV is reduced by 50%.

Many of the children who come to Nyumbani are orphans impacted by HIV, by providing an education and support system, they have a fighting chance to overcome the extreme challenges in their lives and sustain a better future.

As a child, Peter went through the heartache of losing both of his parents, he faced lots of challenges including starvation, but he never gave up.

"Today as I pursue a degree in the field of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), my heart felt gratitude goes to all the generous donors who helped bring me this far.”

Talent can't be taught, but it can be awakened. We love to see the children in our schools develop creatively, as well as academically. The kids enjoyed showing off their talents at the Nyumbani Talent Show, from music, drama to dancing, a much needed positive boost after the ban on co-curricular activities in Kenya.
