💧 Are patients adapting to dry eye symptoms rather than seeking care?

A multinational survey of more than 5,000 people found that almost one-third waited more than six months after symptom onset before consulting a healthcare professional.

More than 80% reported changing aspects of their daily lives because of dry eye, highlighting a potential disconnect between how patients perceive their symptoms and the impact those symptoms have.

Repeat surgery in non-Fuchs corneal dystrophies

An eight-decade retrospective study has examined patterns of surgical re-intervention across non-Fuchs corneal dystrophies.

Re-intervention was most frequently identified in epithelial and epithelial-stromal dystrophies, particularly gelatinous drop-like, granular and lattice corneal dystrophies, highlighting important differences between dystrophy types.

Exploring antioxidant eye drops for corneal disease via Ophthalmology Times

Researchers at the University of Iowa have received NIH funding to advance an antioxidant-based treatment using ubiquinol, with potential applications in dry eye disease, Fuchs endothelial corneal dystrophy and other corneal conditions.

The funding will support further development of a delivery system designed to increase ubiquinol uptake in corneal endothelial cells, building on earlier laboratory research into reducing oxidative stress.

Highlights from a wonderful few days in London, bringing together colleagues from across the international ophthalmic community to share knowledge, exchange ideas and advance corneal care.

From Cornea Day, jointly organised by EuCornea and the ESCRS Cornea Committee, to the wider ESCRS Congress, it was a pleasure to reconnect with familiar faces, meet new colleagues and take part in inspiring discussions.

A big thank you to our faculty, colleagues and everyone who contributed to making Cornea Day 2026 such a valuable event.
