Few antique furniture styles are as instantly recognisable as Black Forest carving.

Produced largely in Switzerland during the late 19th century, these remarkable carvings transformed linden wood into lifelike depictions of bears, stags and other alpine wildlife. Bears became particularly popular, appearing on everything from to***co jars and humidor boxes to armchairs and benches.
Part furniture, part sculpture, Black Forest carvings are celebrated for their craftsmanship, character and humour.

Awarded ‘Best Object’ at the LAPADA 2025 Excellence Awards, the Astor Turquoise and Diamond Tiara by Cartier, circa 1930, is an exceptional jewel of both historic and artistic significance.

Presented by The Jewellery Trading Room, the tiara was once owned by Nancy, Viscountess Astor (1879–1964) and is among the finest examples of Cartier’s early 20th century craftsmanship. With its striking design and remarkable provenance, it remains one of the most important jewels to have appeared on the market in recent years.

The ‘Best Object’ award is selected by LAPADA’s Excellence Committee, recognising the most outstanding work exhibited at the Fair.

We’re delighted to welcome to exhibit at this year’s LAPADA Berkeley Square Fair for the first time.

Established in 1977 by George and Sandi Somlo, Somlo London has built an international reputation as one of London’s leading specialists in antique pocket watches and vintage wristwatches. From its home in Burlington Arcade, the family-run business is renowned for its exceptional eye for historically important horology, alongside rare and unique jewellery watches.
In 2008, Somlo became the first and only official OMEGA vintage store, helping to shape the growing appreciation for vintage OMEGA timepieces among collectors worldwide. Today, the next generation continues that legacy under Daniel Somlo, a qualified OMEGA watchmaker and specialist in vintage OMEGA Speedmasters, widely recognised as a leading authority in the field.

We’re thrilled to welcome Somlo London as part of this year’s exhibitor line-up.
