It is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to a very dear and loved member of the Small Steps Project Family. James Ng'ang'a Wakaba has brought joy to the children at for over 7 years. He taught us all the values of respect, hard work and kindness, always with a smile.
He grew up in Ngong, where, like many of the children, he supported his family, yet he still finished his education and then returned the project to inspire a whole generation of children.
He tragically passed on April 6th in a fatal road accident.
Tomorrow on Tuesday 14th he will be laid to rest in the estate of Zambia in Ngong. The children of green steps will be in attendance.
He will be missed so much by everyone.
Please contact if you would like to attend or make a donation to his family at this difficult time.

Rest in peace sweet James.

It's new shoes day today at our nursery
Our youngest new walkers all got their first pairs of trainers/sneakers today, to protect their little feet from the rubbish they walk through every day, on their way to our day care.
We provide free preschool from 4 months old for babies and toddlers in Ngong slums, so that their mums can go to work and older siblings can stay in school.

2026 is a big year for our Small Steps Masaka Project in Uganda. For many years we have supported children working on the dump but now, thanks to the Foux Foundation, we have launched our School Reintegration Project.

We are fully funding children back into education, taking care of every step, from shoes to uniforms, food, transport, fees, exams, materials and homework support.

Introducing our first successes sisters Shakirah (11) who hopes of being a pilot and Shamirah (9) who dreams of being a nurse. Both orphans live with their aunt and have been working on the dump collecting plastic and bottles.

This is just the first step in making children's hopes and dreams come true, through education and love. We aim to reintegrate at least 50 children from the dump site this year! Watch this space!

We have been delivering shoes to barefoot children for over 16 years. Shoes protect children's feet from harsh environments and for babies that's the cold. Getting items into Gaza is still impossible so we have been buying from traders. Until now....
we have an amazing group of mums in Gaza who are taking small steps by knitting baby boots and delivering them to newborns and babies all over Gaza.

This project is for our smallest and most vulnerable but we have a big list of 1000 babies waiting for booties right now!

So please donate as little as £5 for 1 pair in the link in our bio 🦶❤️

28 year old mum, Hana Om Mohammed, from Khan Younis, Gaza, has brought together a knitting circle, who are all taking the most tiny, magical small steps.
These women, who are mums themselves, trying to survive a genocide, are knitting tiny baby booties and hats to keep newborns warm.
Then they distributing them in hospitals, maternity wards, clinics and shelters to babies who need them.
By donating or sponsoring a pair of booties, not only are you keeping a baby warm, you are providing employment to a mum to keep her own children safe.
Every penny you donate will go to these mums, including the gift aid we receive on every uk tax payers donation. Link is in our bio.

Some of you may recognize our brilliant trustee, activist and lawyer, Alex Monaco from our event he just shared this shocking footage with us of being cancelled for singing a song about Palestine!
All over the world people are being silenced for speaking out against the mass murder of civilians, from holding a placard, to saying certain words, we can be cancelled, silenced & arrested.
But each time we step up and are silenced, we will step up again and again. Until the genocide ends. We are all stronger together and we are on the right side of history. At Small Steps Project we defend the rights of children and the oppressed and we support everyone who is taking a stand.
