STOP THE PRESS! This Sunday, 6 September 2026, the streets of London will witness world-class speed, power, and determination as Velocity Wheelchair Racers take on The Big Half 2026.

Covering 13.1 miles from Tower Bridge to the iconic Cutty Sark in Greenwich, this race brings together community energy and elite athletic performance. Representing Velocity on the elite start line are four exceptional athletes ready to leave everything on the tarmac:
- Michael McCabe
- Stephen Williams
- Erin O'Flaherty
- Ella Bouvard

Wheelchair racing at this level demands extraordinary upper-body power, tactical intelligence, and absolute focus. Months of grueling training, track sessions, and road prep come down to Sunday morning.

Whether you are lining the route through Southwark, Lewisham, and Greenwich, or tracking the splits online, join us in backing these incredible athletes as they push for podium spots and personal bests.

Danny Sidbury never ceases to amaze - takes Bronze at the GalAthletics-Bellinzona, just .21s off silver (Julien Casoli) and .37s off gold (Marcel Hug) - will try and find some video of this close race!!! (if anybody has some, please let me know)

Upcoming races - Velocity Racers all over the Country!!

1st August 2026 - Danny will be racing in the 1500m at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow

While Kieran, Michael, Ella, Gwen, Erin and Stephen take to the final BWAA event of the season in Coventry, racing in all distances on the Godiva track!

[Apologies for the lack of news from your faithful reporter - I've been busy representing GBR in the European Nations Dragonboat Championship in Munich earlier this month and racing in the Sprint relays at the SuperTriathlon in Toronto earlier this week]

From last week's BWAA race meet at Coventry, little Gwen took a massive trio of PBs off her 100m, 200m and 400m times; Erin set some season bests in 100m, 200m and 800m; Stephen also set season bests in 100, 200, 400 and 800m, and Michael smashed through 100m in a 16.52second - amazing feats all round - here's to the next event - 12th July back in Coventry... till then, we'll be training in the Park.
