The Felix Project

The Felix Project We are Felix. Rescuing Food for Fuller Lives.

We rescue great food and get it to people who need it most, supporting 1.5 million people across the UK alongside 18,000 volunteers, 8,000 charities and thousands of partners. Every second, we deliver 5 meals using surplus food from across the supply chain, turning an environmental problem into a social opportunity. Formerly FareShare and The Felix Project, we’re building a future where good food is never wasted, and communities can thrive.

As we kick off Volunteer Appreciation Week, we want to take a moment to shine a massive spotlight on the incredible individuals who make the work of The Felix Project and FareShare possible.

You are the backbone of our mission to fight hunger and tackle food waste across the UK. Every hour you dedicate, every crate you move, and every delivery you make helps in our fight against food insecurity.

The impact of your dedication is truly staggering. By contributing 534,000 volunteering hours last year, you enabled us to redistribute 62,000 tonnes of food and support 8,200 community organisations across the UK.

To every volunteer who has put on a hi-vis vest or an apron, sorted through mountains of carrots, or driven a van: THANK YOU.

Whether you’ve been with us for years or have just started your journey, know that because of you, thousands of families have access to nutritious meals, and our environment is spared the burden of perfectly good food going to waste.

This week is all about you, but please know that our gratitude extends far beyond these seven days. You make a profound difference every single day of the year. 💚

Happy Volunteer Appreciation Week! We are so incredibly proud to work alongside you.

Did you know today is World Hunger Day?

Marking the 28th May, this day shines a light on the global hunger crisis and the need for sustainable solutions - making it the perfect moment to launch our 2026 Restaurants Feed London campaign

From today until the end of July, eateries across the capital will come together with one shared goal: tackling food waste and feeding Londoners in need.

By adding an optional £1 to customers’ bills throughout the campaign and donating these funds to The Felix Project, this year’s participants are showcasing what true commitment to sustainability and community in the hospitality sector can look like.

Why not show your support by dining out at one of these fantastic restaurants this summer? 🍽️

Lastmonth, we welcomed some of our favourite foodies to our Poplar depot for a special zero-waste lunch, hosted by the wonderful Bettina's Kitchen, to celebrate the upcoming launch of Restaurants Feed London 2026.

With incredible dishes prepared by our kitchen team, an inspiring talk from Emma Burns, and a behind-the-scenes tour of our East London depot, the event was a powerful reminder of what this campaign is all about: bringing together London’s hospitality sector to tackle food waste and hunger.

With less than two weeks to go until launch on World Hunger Day (28th May), there’s still time to get involved. If your restaurant (or café, pub… even tapas bar!) would like to make an impact this summer, you can sign up here: https://thefelixproject.pulse.ly/ri9xkfugnc

Or, if there’s a restaurant you’d love to see take part, why not tag them below?👇

It’s hard to imagine making a meal without the basics like pasta, rice, or a splash of cooking oil. But for many of the 1.5 million people supported by The Felix Project and FareShare, these "cupboard staples" are the hardest items to find.

Currently, these essentials make up only 4% of the food we rescue. We want to change that—but we need the help of our amazing food industry partners! 🤝

The Spring Challenge: We’re on a mission to save 100 extra tonnes of ambient food (that's 240,000 meals!) by June 30th.

Do you work in food manufacturing, retail, or distribution? tems that might seem like "waste" to you are gold to us. We can take:
🏭 Warehouse overstock
📦 Mislabelled or damaged packaging
⏳ Items past their Best Before (but still good to eat!)

What we need:
🍝 Dried pasta, rice, and noodles
🥣 Tinned soup, veg, and meat
🍳 Cooking sauces and oils
☕ Tea, coffee, and cereal

Help us make sure no cupboard is left empty this Spring. 🌸

Did you know, only 4% of the food we redistribute are the everyday items we’d find in our cupboards? Basics like rice, pasta, tinned tomatoes, and cooking oil, essentials for creating nutritious and substantial meals.

We know families across the UK are struggling to cover the costs of buying these staples. In our 2025 survey, cupboard staples were the number one item in demand by their service users.

We want to address this. This spring, help us restock essential cupboard items so we can continue supporting 1.5 million people across the UK.

When we open your cupboards, you might not know the power thoe tins of beans and lentels hold in ensuring our families have a healthy and delicious meal. But to Rea, who uses L6 Community Centre, these staples are a life line:

“Those cupboard basics are a ‘must have’ in our household; they always have been. Ever since I was a kid, our cupboards have always been full of long-life food such as pasta sauces, pasta, tinned beans, tea and biscuits. It makes you feel like you’ve always got something to hand to feed the family.”

However, with the rising cost of living, keeping those cupboards full is becoming an uphill battle. This security is especially vital during the school holidays, when the L6 Community Centre steps in to provide families with two out of their three meals a day.

Because these cupboard staples are essential to a healthy home, they have become our number one most-requested items. To meet this need, we’ve set an ambitious target for our suppliers to find an extra 100 tonnes of cupboard staples like rice, pasta, and cooking oil by the end of June.

By supporting our campaign, you aren't just donating food; you’re helping provide that sense of security that every parent deserves.

The theme for Earth Day 2026 is Our Power, Our Planet. 🌍✨

At The Felix Project and FareShare, we believe that power lies in the hands of our community. It’s the power to say "no" to good food going to waste and "yes" to feeding our community.

In 2025, our collective power achieved something incredible:
🥬 18,000+ tonnes of food rescued from becoming waste.
🍝 44 million meals delivered to Londoners in need.
🌍 20,000 tonnes of embedded CO2e saved—that’s the equivalent of driving around the world over 1,400 times. 🚗💨

When we rescue food, we aren't just fighting hunger; we are protecting the water, land, and energy used to produce it. Every meal saved is a win for our planet.

This Earth Day, we’re celebrating the volunteers, suppliers, and partners who have joined us to use their power fight food waste and hunger in our communities.💚

How are you using your power for the planet today? Let us know in the comments! 👇
