Designing a future where everybody belongs.

On Stephen Lawrence Day, we partnered with The King’s Trust at the South London Centre to bring together young people, leaders and organisations for an open and honest conversation about what it takes to build more inclusive, connected communities.

Attended by Baroness Doreen Lawrence, the session created space for reflection, dialogue and action. From a moment of reflection honouring Stephen’s life and legacy, to a collaborative roundtable centred on youth voice and lived experience, the focus was clear.

SLDF beneficiaries were also in the room, sharing their experiences and perspectives, bringing real insight into what opportunity, support and belonging look like in practice.

How do we design and build spaces where everyone belongs?
How do we create environments rooted in safety, inclusion and connection?

Through shared perspectives from young people, industry leaders and policymakers, the conversation highlighted the importance of listening, learning and working together to create meaningful change.

A huge thank you to those who made the day possible:
The King's Trust team for hosting the day co-designing the event. And their young ambassadors for taking the lead in the round table discussion.
Katie Aston at the Home Office for her convening powers.
Helen Taylor from Scott Brownrigg for chairing the round table discussion.
SLDF Alumni Stephanie Edwards and Tendai Mutyasera for co-charing the roundtable.
Young ambassadors and Abby Lomas from Bee N Spired for roundtable participation.
Sarah Jones, Minister for Policing and Crime, for participation on the day.

Taking on the London Marathon is no small feat.

It takes commitment, resilience and the decision to keep going, even when it gets tough.

Niall stepped up to that challenge to support the work of the Stephen Lawrence Day Foundation, and has already raised an incredible £3,648, reaching 72% of his goal.

That is something to be proud of.

A huge thank you to you, Niall, for taking this on, and to everyone who has supported him so far.

Let’s help him get over the line.

What it takes to show up like this goes far beyond race day.

The early mornings.
The long runs.
The discipline, the setbacks, the moments where it would have been easier to stop.

Andrez didn’t just run the London Marathon. He committed to something bigger.

Through every mile, he was raising funds, awareness and opportunity for young people supported by the Stephen Lawrence Day Foundation.

Surpassing his £5,000 goal is an incredible achievement, but it’s the effort behind it that truly stands out.

We’re incredibly grateful for everything you’ve given to this, Andrez.

And to everyone who supported him along the way, thank you.

Every future needs a foundation.

Stephen Lawrence Day may have passed, but the work continues.

Every future needs a foundation.

There are still so many young people with talent, ambition and potential, but without the right support, those futures can be left unrealised.

Through Stephen’s legacy, we are helping to change that. Creating opportunities across classrooms, careers and communities, and supporting young people to step into their futures with confidence.

This is not just about one day. It is about what we build every day after.

If you’ve been meaning to support, this is your moment.

Be the foundation. Help us continue building futures.

As part of Stephen Lawrence Day 2026, we partnered with Bloomberg UK for a panel exploring how collaboration can create real pathways for young people. As well as shining a light on our new Institute of Directors partnership, championing director level leadership.

Bringing together partners, leaders and young people, the session created space to reflect on equity, access and the role we all play in opening doors for the next generation.

At the heart of the conversation was a simple but powerful idea. Talent is everywhere. Opportunity is not.

Through lived experiences and shared insights, the panel highlighted how mentoring, scholarships and partnerships are helping to build confidence, create access and shape futures.

A special thank you to Bloomberg for hosting and making this event possible.

Thank you to our brilliant host Sonia Meggie for guiding such an important conversation.

And to our panelists:
Marissa Willock, Great Ormond Street Hospital, HOPE Initiative Programme Lead.
Ezra Alexander Pusey, London College of Fashion Photography, UAL x adidas scholar.
Grace Olugbodi, Institute of Directors Scholar and Founder of Race to Infinity

We were also proud to have two other London College of Fashion UAL, scholars in attendance - Lucian and Tanaiya.

Tanatswa Borerwe was an early bursary recipient supported in Stephen’s name.

Today, she is an architect at HTA Design and runs her own architectural illustration business.

Her journey was not straightforward. One of the biggest challenges was balancing study with real working practice, and finding people further along in their careers willing to guide and mentor her.

Through the bursary, Tanatswa was able to access both.

It gave her the opportunity to study while gaining real-world experience, and to learn from those already established in the industry.

Because access is key.

Access to people.
Access to opportunity.
Access to environments that shape growth.

From small-scale projects to large-scale practice, those experiences helped shape the path she is on today.

Tanatswa’s journey shows what happens when the right foundation is in place.

Every future needs a foundation.

There are so many young people out there with talent, ambition and potential.

But potential alone is not enough.

It needs support.
It needs belief.
It needs real opportunity.

Through Stephen’s legacy, young people are stepping into careers, building confidence, and realising futures that once felt out of reach.

This is not just about what has been achieved. It is about what is still possible.

Today, on Stephen Lawrence Day, we continue that work.

Be the foundation. Help build more futures.

Today is April 22.
Stephen Lawrence Day.

Stephen wanted to build. And today, we build in his name.

As Baroness Doreen Lawrence shares, this year’s theme, Every Future Needs a Foundation, is about what young people truly need to succeed. Not just potential, but support. Not just ambition, but belief. A foundation that turns aspiration into achievement.

This day is not only about the past. It is about what comes next.

About the futures we help shape.
The opportunities we create.
The young people we choose to stand behind.

We all have a part to play in building these foundations.

Stand with us. Share the message. Partner with us. Support the next generation.

Moni Rahman was part of the first cohort of Stephen Lawrence Day Foundation bursary recipients.

Today, he is an architect and Director at OMNI Architecture in East London.

His journey was not easy. Like many young people, he faced challenges and doubts along the way. But with determination, and the right support, he kept moving forward.

Through the Foundation, Moni received support at a critical stage, giving him access to the tools and financial backing needed to complete both his undergraduate and master’s studies.

Because behind every career is a support system. The right guidance. The right opportunities. The right people.

Moni’s journey shows what happens when that foundation is in place.

Every future needs a foundation. Be the foundation for the next generation.

Moments like this show the power of community.

People coming together in honour of what Stephen’s legacy represents, united by a shared purpose to support the next generation.

This was more than a game. It was about connection, presence and creating something positive together.

The Legacy Unity Cup was held to support the work of the Stephen Lawrence Day Foundation, helping create opportunities for young people through education, mentoring, bursaries and pathways into careers.

Thank you to everyone who showed up, took part and helped make this day what it was.

This is how change happens.

The Legacy Unity Cup 2026

Thank you to everyone who showed up, took part, and helped bring this day to life.

What we saw was a reminder of the power of community, and what is possible when people come together with a shared purpose.

The Legacy Unity Cup is a community-led event inspired by Stephen’s legacy. It created a space where people felt seen, heard and part of something positive. Through football, music, conversation and connection, the day showed what real engagement looks like.

This goes beyond sport.

It’s about community. It’s about presence. It’s about creating environments where prevention happens through connection, not enforcement.

April is a time to reflect, but it is also a reminder that there is still work to be done.

And moments like this show how we move forward, together.

Every future needs a foundation.

A special thank you to Isaiah Tshibangu James of Through Fitness for hosting and leading such a powerful day.

And to the organisations who made it possible:

We are grateful to have a community that continues to show up.
