Introducing our speakers for the Women in Global Health Panel Discussion!

Women make up the majority of the global health workforce, yet they hold only 25% of leadership positions. We believe that promoting women's leadership is crucial to achieving our global health goals, and we're excited to bring together a panel of experts to discuss this important topic.

Join us for a conversation on how we can empower more women to take on leadership roles in global health. Our panelists will share their insights on the impact of gender equity in global health, and how we can work together to drive progress. Sign up for the talk and submit any questions you have in advance of the event here: link in bio

Agnodice of Athens
Because I can pick whomever I want to be the woman of the week, this week I have chosen to spotlight one of my favourite stories of all time. Agnodice of Athens was credited with being the first Obstetrician, and the reason that women were first allowed to practice medicine in Athens. She practised both midwifery and medicine for years whilst disguised as a man, and when she was accused of seducing her patients, she dramatically revealed to the court that she was a woman, and had saved many of the wives and daughters of the voting jury. Despite this, she was nearly banned from practicing medicine, until she was defended by the women of Athens. Although many of the details of this story are in doubt or lost to history, it shows just how far women have had to go to provide care to their patients.
