Chingford Royal British Legion Branch and Chingford Royal British Legion Womens Section paying tribute to the courage and sacrifice of the Maltese people in 1942. The island was then awarded the George Cross for Valour.
Following the commemorative service both standards were introduced to the Maltese High Commission

🇬🇧 2 Days to Go – VJ Day 81st Anniversary

In just 2 days, we come together to honour the courage and sacrifice of those who served in the Far East — the Forgotten Army who brought the Second World War to its final close.

Join us this Sunday 16 August at 12 noon
for our VJ Day Service & Wreath Laying
📍 Rear of Chingford Mount Cemetery

After the service, all are welcome at the RBL Club, Hall Lane for an afternoon of food, music, and community as we remember their legacy.

This last week has been a week of Celebration and Commemoration for Chingford Women's Section. First we celebrated our very own centenarian and President 'Renee' and now we are preparing to say goodbye to someone who has dedicated well over 35 years both as a RBLWS Standard Bearer and Poppy Appeal Collector Hazel, both of these ladies are a true example of
'Service Not Self'

The Royal Britsh Legion is offering free tickets to eligible veterans who are not members of or affiliated with a service or unit association, so that they can march in the Cenotaph Parade on Sunday 8th November 2026. Spaces are limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis to UK and Commonwealth veterans from the Royal Navy, Army, Royal Air Force, and the Merchant Navy. Registration will close on Monday 28th September 2026 at 11.59pm.

Chingford Royal British Legion marks the 81st Anniversary of VJ Day. We invite our community to join us for a Ceremonial Service and Wreath Laying at 12 noon, Sunday 16th August 2026, at the rear of Chingford Mount Cemetery.
After the service, all are welcome at The Royal British Legion Club, 67 Hall Lane, for an afternoon of food, music and fun.
This commemoration honours the courage, endurance and sacrifice of the Commonwealth forces who served in the Far East — the men and women often remembered as the Forgotten Army. We gather to pay tribute to their service and to uphold the freedoms for which they fought.
