Minutes are now available for the APPG on Long Covid meeting that took place in June.

This focused on the impact of on Children and Young People (CYP), with a powerful presentation by the Long Covid Kids charity, Long Covid Kids

“It shouldn’t take 6 years to get listened to for the first time” - Kitty McFarland, Youth Advocate, Long Covid Kids

Topics included:

📣 the need for widely accessible, effective Long Covid healthcare services for CYP
📣 challenges transitioning from paediatric to adult healthcare
📣 how educational institutions can support CYP with Long Covid
📣 employment issues faced by young people with Long Covid
📣 urgent need for Long Covid education and age-targeted awareness campaigns

August is a quieter month for us here at Long Covid Support, but we are still here!

Opportunities for peer support and connection continue across our Facebook groups - head to our website to join them now.

If you attend our in person peer support groups regularly in Chester or Birmingham, don't forget we have a break in August - we'll return in September.

In the meantime, we wish all of our community and supporters a restful month - take care in the heat and we look forward to seeing you all in September 💙

Last year, 17 incredible fundraisers took on challenges . Whether running, cycling, crocheting, or asking friends to donate on a special occasion, we were so grateful to each and everyone who took the time to raise funds for our charity 🙏

In 2026, we hope to exceed this number, and halfway through the year, we’ve made a strong start with 11 fundraisers. Thank you to everyone signing up to make a difference for people living with Long Covid!

📣 New paper out on Long Covid and work from Imperial College London’s REACT Study.

Based on over 45,000 participants with known Covid-19 history and in paid work at recruitment:

🔷 4.3% had unresolved Long Covid
🔷 An additional 2.3% had resolved Long Covid
🔷 Participants with unresolved Long Covid had 38% lower odds of being in paid work, and 4x higher odds of having had to change work hours

Thanks to our Research Lead Nikki Smith for co-authoring the paper, and to the researchers and participants in the study.

As part of South Asian Heritage Month, You're Not Imagining It is a free online event exploring Long COVID, ME and invisible illness in South Asian communities.

A hopeful, practical conversation by host Asma Younus and leading experts Dr Binita Kane and Dr Sanjay Gupta, this is for anyone who has felt unheard, dismissed or still searching for answers.

This event is organised by South Asian Heritage Trust (SAHT) in collaboration with key charity partners - Long Covid Support, Long Covid Kids, Action For ME and There For ME.
