Enormous thanks to Rickie and everyone who attended his 11-a-side charity football match at Crawley Stadium last weekend! ⚽️

It's always wonderful to see a community coming out in support of those with Long Covid. The event managed to raise over £800, a magnificent achievement! Rickie's daughter, unfortunately, has been profoundly impacted by the illness; we're sending her all of our best wishes.

If you're inspired and would like to do a fundraiser please head to the fundraising section of our website or get in touch by emailing [email protected]

Thank you, Rickie!

Following the recent elections in Wales, we’d like to congratulate the newly elected Senedd Members. We wish them every success as they begin their term representing the people of Wales.

We were pleased that the previous Welsh government awarded £8.3 million of recurrent funding towards the provision of services to support those with post-viral conditions (including Long Covid, ME and Fibromyalgia). We sincerely hope this funding remains in place in the long term.

Together with a coalition of other charities, groups and individuals, we have endorsed the attached manifesto. We encourage those residing in Wales to send this, along with the suggested letter template, to their local representatives.

We thank Senedd Members for their commitment to public service, and we look forward to working with them in the years ahead.

(Fersiwn Gymraeg / Welsh version)

Yn dilyn yr etholiadau diweddar yng Nghymru, hoffem longyfarch i’r Aelodau’r Senedd newydd etholedig. Dymunwn lwyddiant iddynt wrth iddynt ddechrau eu tymor yn cynrychioli pobl Cymru.

Roeddem yn falch bod Llywodraeth Cymru flaenorol wedi dyfarnu £8.3 miliwn o gyllid ailadroddus tuag at ddarparu gwasanaethau i gefnogi'r rhai â chyflyrau ôl-fwlio (gan gynnwys Covid Hir, ME a Ffibromyalgia). Gobeithiwn yn ddiffuant y bydd y cyllid hwn yn aros yn ei le yn y tymor hir.

Ni, ynghyd â rhieni, grwpiau ac unigolion eraill, wedi cefnogi'r maniffesto atodedig. Anogwn y rhai sy'n preswylio yng Nghymru i anfon hwn, ynghyd â'r templed llythyr a awgrymir, at eu cynrychiolwyr lleol.

Rydym yn diolch i Aelodau’r Senedd am eu hymrwymiad i wasanaeth cyhoeddus, ac edrychwn ymlaen at weithio gyda nhw yn y blynyddoedd i ddod.

REMINDER: Long Covid Forum — Join us for an inspiring evening!

Don't forget to sign up for the upcoming inaugural in-person Long Covid Forum in Chester — a supportive and accessible event for anyone affected by Long Covid. Come together to share experiences, connect with others, and call for greater action from decision-makers, employers, services, and the wider community.

📆 Thursday 28 May 2026
🕕 18:00–19:30

Our agenda features guest speakers:
- Nigel Rothband, Chair of the Long Covid Support Charity
- Dr Binita Kane, founder of The Long Covid Clinic and a leading advocate for better recognition and care for people with Long Covid

The evening will also feature lived-experience contributions exploring the realities of Long Covid — from health and work to family life, support, public understanding, and what’s needed next to tackle this major health crisis. This event is distinct from our ongoing Peer Support Sessions in the area.

The venue is fully accessible. Masks will be encouraged and available, with air filtration and individually served refreshments provided. Free parking is available from 3PM at the nearby Chester Crown Court (Castle Square).

Our fundraising champion this week is David Pett, who is currently 60% of the way through his 780km trek 🥾

Here is a message from David:

“In April and May 2026, I will embark on a deeply personal and long-held ambition: to walk the 778 km Camino Frances pilgrimage from St Jean Pied de Port to Santiago de Compostela in Spain. This incredible journey will see me walking between 20 and 30 km each day, pushing my limits physically and mentally. But this pilgrimage trek is about more than just personal achievement; it is a mission to raise vital funds for Long Covid Support. Several friends have been profoundly affected by Long Covid as well as other viral conditions, facing ongoing challenges that impact their daily lives.

Their stories inspire me to advocate for greater awareness and support for those living with these conditions. The need for support and research into Long Covid has never been greater. Many suffer in silence, struggling with symptoms that disrupt their ability to work, care for loved ones, and enjoy life fully. By contributing to this cause, you help provide essential resources and hope to those battling the long-term effects of Covid-19.

I am aiming to raise £1 for each kilometre, so £780 through this challenge. Your generous donation will make a real difference in supporting Long Covid patients on their road to recovery.

Thank you sincerely for considering a gift towards this important cause. Together, we can walk alongside those affected by Long Covid and help light the way toward healing.”

You can donate to David’s campaign here: https://www.justgiving.com/page/david-pett-2?utm_medium=FR&utm_source=CL

Every share helps us get these stories out and hopefully inspires others to join our cause 💙
