“Remembrance is not passive. It requires participation, reflection and willingness to learn from one another.”

In her new blog, Janessa Murray shares why she wanted to be part of The Wake Youth Engagement Pilot, delivered in partnership with the Mayor of London.

The Wake is a new memorial honouring the millions of Africans impacted by the Transatlantic Trafficking of Enslaved Africans and their descendants, being delivered by the Mayor of London.

Reflecting on creativity, culture, community and the power of youth voice, Janessa explores how projects like The Wake can help young people connect with history in meaningful and personal ways.
