I am delighted to announce the appointment of Wing Commander (Designate) Anthony Barker as Officer Commanding London Wing, effective from 13th of September 2026.

Wing Commander (Designate) Barker succeeds Wing Commander Cameron Braddy-Green who has successfully led the Wing for the last 4 years. I would like to place on record my sincere thanks for their leadership and huge personal commitment to London Wing during their tenure. Leading one of RAFAC's largest and most diverse Wings is a significant responsibility, and I am grateful for their dedication to our cadets and volunteers.

Anthony's RAF Air Cadet journey began in 1996 as a cadet at 444 (Shoreditch) Squadron, where he progressed to Cadet Warrant Officer before returning as an adult volunteer and eventually Officer Commander after receiving his commission in 2010. Since then, he has served at squadron level as OC 12F (Walthamstow & Leyton) Squadron, wing level as Media & Communications, and Shooting Officer and regional level as Media & Engagement officer.

Throughout his service, Anthony has demonstrated a strong commitment to developing volunteers, strengthening communication and creating opportunities that enhance the cadet experience. His collaborative leadership style, combined with his understanding of London Wing and its people, make him exceptionally well placed to lead the Wing into its next chapter.

On accepting the appointment, Wing Commander (Designate) Barker said:
"It is an immense privilege to have been selected to lead London Wing. Having spent my entire RAF Air Cadets journey serving London in one form or other and I am honoured to have the opportunity to support our volunteers and cadets in this role. I look forward to working with our dedicated teams to build on the Wing's strengths and ensure we continue to provide outstanding opportunities for every cadet."

This weekend saw just under 80 cadets split in to group’s of AM and PM slots that were supported by RMTL’s and other staff across London Wing to deliver Blue Road Marching,

Cadets marched 15km each day after their Blue Road Marching Theory Lesson last weekend, both days were lead by Sgt Edwards with the AM cadets marching from Putney Bridge to Richmond and the PM cadets the return leg,

Pleased to announce that all cadets passed and have gained their Blue badge with interest from staff to go on and become RMTL’s and cadets being inspired to go further to Bronze and eventually Nijmegen.

Congratulations to all cadets and a massive thank you to all the staff as this weekend would not have been possible without giving up your time.

On 25 November 2025, the London Wing Air Cadets attended the RTX Quadcopter Challenge National Finals, held at the Honourable Artillery Company London.
Delighted to say that London Wing’s finiallsts finished in an amazing 2nd place 2nd place🥈out of 231 teams,
This year was particularly special as it marked the 10th anniversary of the presence of Commandant Air Cadets was a wonderful surprise that gave the cadets that extra boost of encouragement.
The combined efforts of 12F Walthamstow & Leyton Squadron - Royal Air Force Air Cadets and Kingsford CCF cadets were nothing short of outstanding.
Despite facing technical challenges a long the way with the drone, equipment, the team demonstrated resilience, teamwork, and innovation at every stage.
Their determination and positive spirit shone through, making this achievement even more meaningful.
A huge thank you goes to Laura and Paul from RTX, whose incredible support ensured the team could keep flying.
Their provision of spare parts and batteries on the day was critical and made all the difference.

We also extend our gratitude to 27F Chingford ATC, who generously allowed the cadets to use their facilities for practice and preparation, and to 12F Squadron for their vital support with funding,
They were essential in helping the team reach the national stage.
Most importantly, we celebrate the cadets themselves, every individual involved gave their best, worked tirelessly, and represented London Wing - Royal Air Force Air Cadets with pride.

A special thanks to CI Islam, who guided and managed the team throughout the journey with his leadership and dedication were key to the squadron’s success and to achieving this remarkable milestone and also CI Mohsin London Wing STEM Officer for her continued support.
This 2nd place finish is not just a result in a competition. It is a testament to the power of STEM, teamwork, and cadet spirit.

London Wing undertook Blue Road Marching Theory Training today held at 6F (Romford) Squadron ATC with a fantastic attendance of just under 100 cadets with 11 CFAV’s in preparation for next weekends walk with 15km on Saturday & Sunday with the cadet at the end to achieve their Blue Road Marching badge to get them hungry for Bronze and onto Nijmegen,
