Session 2 with our ZW refugee students was all about reflection, storytelling, and hope 🌿

This week, the kids explored some really meaningful themes from Islamic teachings: forgiving others, asking Allah for forgiveness, and learning how to forgive ourselves too. Through their conversations and ideas, they saw how mercy, repentance, and compassion can turn even tough moments into chances to grow.

We’re so proud of how honest, creative, and brave they were as they started shaping their own stories. 💛

✨ Our first session was yesterday! ✨

Our Zubeda Welcome children explored Allah’s teachings on forgiveness in the Qur’an and began discovering how His mercy can inspire stories of compassion, healing and kindness. 📖💛

We are so excited to launch our Refugee Mothers Empowerment Programme, delivered by Atia Lokhat and Iqra Ali. ❤️

This programme is about creating a safe, welcoming space for the mothers of the refugee children supported by Zubeda Welcome, a space where they can unlock their potential, discover new skills and talents, and rebuild confidence in the skills and strengths they already have.

Together, we will support and develop their abilities, helping them discover a renewed sense of purpose and belonging within the communities they now call home.

Because a happy mum means a happy family. 🌸

We hope this programme will help mothers build confidence, friendships and a stronger sense of community, while also easing the journey towards employment and meaningful opportunities — whether through volunteering or paid work.

We will introduce practical skills including how to search for opportunities, prepare a CV, recognise their strengths and present their skills with confidence.

Most importantly, we want every mother to feel that her skills, experiences and dreams matter and that she has a valuable place and purpose in her community.

Here’s to empowering mothers, strengthening families and building brighter futures together. 💛

What if your child could turn the beautiful lessons of the Qur’an into a story that inspires others… and become a published children’s author? 📚🌙

This FREE Summer Writing Workshop is designed for refugee and asylum seeker children (ages 9–16) living anywhere in the UK. Led by our in-house author, Founder and CEO of Zubeda Welcome, Atia Lokhat. Together, we’ll explore what Allah teaches us about forgiveness, mercy and compassion, then transform those lessons into original children’s stories—with support from experienced teachers, authors and mentors. 💚

🤝 Partnering with over 60 madrasas across the UK
đź“Ť Supporting families across 5 regions
🌍 Reaching children from 31 different nationalities
đź’ś Standing alongside 54 single mothers this year
These aren’t just statistics—they represent children finding community, families rebuilding their lives, and a network of people choosing compassion in action.
Thank you to every madrasa, volunteer, donor, and supporter who makes this possible. Together, we’re creating welcoming spaces where every child can belong.

Beautiful voices reciting the beautiful words of the Qur’an. 📖✨

At Zubeda Welcome, children grow through learning, confidence and connection as they read and recite the Qur’an together. Through free Qur’an education and dedicated support, refugee and asylum-seeking children across the UK are helped to strengthen their faith, preserve their Muslim identity and find a sense of belonging.
