We were truly honoured to welcome Rokhsana Fiaz OBE, Mayor of Newham Council, whose administration has championed community wealth building, tackling the housing crisis, and supporting young people.
She was joined by Cllr Rita Chadha, an elected Councillor for the London Borough of Newham, who serves on several key committees including Overview and Scrutiny, Housing and Regeneration Scrutiny, Standards, the Audit Committee, and as Deputy Chair of the Budget Scrutiny Commission.
They joined us during our 2025/2026 Warm Haven session, where we provide hot meals and create a welcoming space for meaningful conversations with our community members.
Not only did they take time to listen and understand the core needs of those we serve, they also sat down and shared a meal with our community members — a simple but powerful gesture of unity and solidarity.
She also had a conversation with the men who were having their meeting at the venue in our halls.
It was such a delight to host them.
