Hayes Muslim Centre Community Event
We were delighted to join Hayes Muslim Centre for a busy community advice event, bringing practical, face-to-face support directly to local residents.
Our advisors and volunteers responded to an incredible 99 enquiries during the session.
Our specialist advisors provided support across employment law, welfare, housing and benefits, as well as helping people access other services and practical support where needed.
Housing was once again one of the most common issues raised, highlighting the very real pressures facing people in our communities.
The number and complexity of the enquiries we saw demonstrate just how much need there is for accessible, face-to-face advice.
Many people come to our sessions facing more than one challenge, with issues around housing, benefits, employment and financial hardship often overlapping.
Having specialist advisors available means we can look at the whole situation and help people find a way forward, rather than addressing one issue in isolation.
The event was also a great opportunity for our volunteers to build their confidence and gain valuable live experience, working alongside our specialist advisors in a supportive community setting.
A huge thank you to our staff and volunteers, and to Hayes Muslim Centre for their warm welcome, hospitality and support throughout the day.
With requests already coming in for more sessions, we hope to be back again soon!
