Ben Haggarty will be joining a panel of storytellers on 7 June 2026 at the British Library for the Jaipur Literature Festival

Called "Once Upon A Time", this session traverses the world of heroes and gods, goblins and fairies, tricksters and shapeshifters through the vibrant collective memory of myth and folklore. In conversation with Manasi Subramaniam, Ben joins historian, mythographer, and “doyenne of fairy stories” Marina Warner, and award-winning writer Namita Gokhale.

Together they will explore their shared repertoire of memory and wisdom, where rivers sing, animals talk, and gods walk among mortals.

Rounding off our Who's Who of our four prurient performers: Sarah Liisa Wilkinson ✨The ultimate mistress of fairytales for grownups. Deliciously rude. Utterly superb storyteller. Doesn't take herself too seriously. If you look carefully you can see bits of her in every story she tells.
