The Charity has now been closed.

12/10/2023

After many years of dedicated work assisting both other charitable organisations and families and children with disabilities the Trustees of The Olwen McPherson Trust have decided that the time has come to close the charity. We hope that the wonderful work carried out by the charity (which was started by the late Olwen McPherson) has made a real difference to many lives.
We would wish to thank all of our Trustees (both current and past) for their dedication and hard work and commitment. We would especially like to thank our supporters as without their help and generosity we would not have been able to achieve what we have.
Olwen's family believe that she has left a lasting legacy and she would have been very proud.

We are pleased to confirm that the Trustees have selected the following good causes to assist prior to closure.

Time Givers
Glasgow Children's Hospice
Acorns Children's Hospice Trust
CRY
Shooting Stars Children's Hospice
St. Francis School

This is a fabulous way to end, helping good causes close to our heart.

Goodbye.

Elizabeth Olwen McPherson

Elizabeth Olwen McPherson founder of The AbleChild Trust died peacefully on 12th September 2017, aged 63, with courage and dignity after a battle bravely fought against cancer.

Elizabeth established The AbleChild Trust in 2007 to help children with disabilities to lead happy and fulfilled lives.

From her initial project in Thailand in 2007 to her latest success 10 years later in 2017 with the Wingate Wheelchair Roundabout Elizabeth worked tirelessly to drive the Charity to make a real difference to the lives of so many children.

Within 10 years and thanks to her tenacity and perseverance the charity has grown in strength and number and thanks to her generosity of spirit the Trustees feel sure that moving forward they can make a real difference to many children and families.
