Huzzah. London Writers' Cafe celebrates 20 years in action this month. We started up in 2006 near Liverpool St station when a handful of writers gathered to share for feedback. Time flies. I'm made this community my own since 2010. I joined in 2009 and took the helm a year later. In my time, I've hosted more than 800 writing workshops, met hundreds of writers, agents, publishers and authors and critiqued thousands of piece of fiction. What a gig!

I love leading our community by arranging events where any writer can learn new skills, write more words, hone their craft and meet other writers on the regular. I learn so much from all of you. What do fiction writers want? What do they need? If provide a place for them to connect with others, share their stories, develop their drafts and gain confidence, is it worthwhile? These questions keep me up at night at times.

As we head into the high summer lull - a time to reflect and refresh - this is a quick message of thanks. Thank you for joining our group. Thank you for taking a chance and attending one of our events. Thank you for giving feedback at our workshops. Thank you for reaching out by sharing your writing at LWC. Thanks for the occasions where I feel like I make a difference. Most of all, thanks for being a writer. It is not easy.
