2–6pm

Join London-based ceramic artist Jihyun Kim for an immersive two-day workshop exploring the creative potential of Gloop glaze.

Designed for makers with some handbuilding experience, the workshop combines sculpture, surface design and material experimentation, exploring how Gloop glaze can be used to create texture, movement and distinctive surfaces.

DAY 1 | HANDBUILDING & DESIGN
• Artist talk & introduction to Gloop glaze
• Demonstration & design development
• Handbuilding a sculptural piece
• Creating a flat tile for glaze testing

All work will be bisque fired between sessions.

DAY 2 | GLOOP GLAZE APPLICATION
• Gloop glaze decorating techniques
• Hands-on application to your sculpture & tile
• Individual guidance & experimentation
• Final Q&A and group sharing

✨ Take home a Gloop glaze recipe to continue experimenting with your own ceramic practice.

ABOUT JIHYUN KIM
Jihyun Kim (b. 1997, South Korea) is an award-winning London-based ceramic designer and RCA MA Ceramics & Glass graduate. Her work has been exhibited at Collect, Milan Design Week, British Ceramic Biennial and Officine Saffi. She is a recipient of the Collect Open Bursary and Rosalind Stracey Ceramic Award.

This Halloween, get creative with clay, w**e and a little spooky magic at our Hammersmith and Twickenham studio! 🎃

Join us for a special two-hour wheel-throwing experience in a dark and atmospheric studio. You’ll have your own pottery wheel and be guided by a professional tutor with a short demonstration before getting hands-on.

Create your own pieces and give them a Halloween twist using black, red and orange coloured slips. Add textures, fingerprints and personal details to make each piece your own. Enjoy a glass of w**e, spooky music and a fun, atmospheric setting while you create.

You’ll be able to take home up to two of your finished pieces, once they’ve been glazed and fired collection within 4 weeks). Firing, in-house glaze, coloured slips, aprons and all materials are included.

A very special milestone for one of our members!

We’re so proud to share that Amar Amardeep Grewal has been accepted to study at Clay College in Stoke-on-Trent, where he’ll spend the next two years developing his practice💪🏻

Amar first discovered pottery at The Clay Garden through one of our 5-week courses - and quickly became hooked, spending as much time at the wheel as he could.

In his own words:

“As soon as I started a 5-week course at Clay Garden, I was hooked and spent as much time as my back would allow at the wheel.

I’ve now warmed to the thought of spending a life making well-made pots that have utility for people. That’s increasingly feeling like a revolutionary act in this time of unbelievable greed and superficiality.

To be a small part of this ancient tradition feels like such a privilege and responsibility, so much so that I’ve decided to throw all of my money and the next two years into studying at Clay College Stoke.

I simply wouldn’t be lucky enough to attend if it weren’t for the lovely people at Clay Garden.”

We feel incredibly lucky to have been a small part of Amar’s journey so far.
