Volunteer at our Hair & Care Workshops 🧡

Our volunteers play one of the most important roles within Hair&Care.

By guiding participants through hair tutorials at our workshop session, and explaining products and tools to participants, they help us to create an inclusive creative space for blind and low-vision women and girls. In doing so, they are providing participants with the tools and knowledge to care for their hair as well as the confidence to be independent.

Our workshops would not be possible without the generosity of our volunteers. Their hospitality is what allows us to continue to hold workshops free of charge for blind and low-vision participants.

We’re always looking to expand our network of amazing hairstylists to support our workshops for our community.

If you are a professional hairstylist and interested in volunteering at one of our workshops, please DM us to learn more!

Hair & Care was featured in .independent for our Making Fashion Accessible initiative!

Written by Lara Owen, this article emphasises how Making Fashion Accessible is cultivating new spaces for inclusivity with the fashion world. Audio descriptions, touch tours and swatch booklets are key when it comes to making our blind and low-vision guests feel recognised and included within fashion.

“Fashion for me has always been something that’s felt a bit out of reach,” she says. “As a visually impaired person, I have no central vision. I can’t see detail. So actually, fashion is really hard to be engaged in, because the detail is everything in fashion.”

Touch tours are a key part of our Making Fashion Accessible initiative.

They create a shared experience for blind and low-vision guests to explore a designer’s collection before the show through conversation and hands-on interaction with the garments.

This year, guests met to experience his new AW26 collection up close. Known for his signature spiked knitwear, the collection also featured appliquéd feathers and lace detailing. Guests were able to feel the techniques used throughout the pieces, helping them build a fuller picture of how the collection would appear on the runway at London Fashion Week.

Through , we’re creating space for blind and low-vision guests to feel immersed in fashion and included in the Fashion Week experience.

This International Women’s Day, we’re reflecting on the role selt-care can play in how we see ourselves. For many people, hair is a meaningful form of self-expression and part of everyday care.

For blind and low-vision individuals, learning hair care and styling techniques can sometimes require different approaches. At Hair & Care, we believe everyone should have the opportunity to feel confident in their own routines.

That’s why we host free monthly workshops with experienced hair stylists, where blind and low-vision women can explore practical hair-styling skills in a supportive environment. Because moments of self-care can be powerful - helping us express who we are and strengthening the sense of identity that so often sits at the heart of womanhood.

We’re always looking to welcome more women and girls into our community to discover how to style their hair and feel confident caring for it. Our next workshop takes place on Wednesday 8th April, 11am-1pm - find the link via our Instagram bio and book via our website.

This MFA season, we were delighted to welcome Faye McConnell from , a recent supporter of Hair&Care

As a sighted individual, Faye describes how attending our touch tour with designer Chet all allowed her to perceive the collection and fashion as a whole from a different point of view.

Not only are our touch tours and pre-show experiences beneficial for our blind and low-vision guests but they are also incredibly impactful for sighted individuals by allowing them to understand the need for accessibility and inclusivity within the fashion industry.

Thank you Faye for joining us this London Fashion Week for our AW26 season of Making Fashion Accessible 🧡

Making Fashion Accessible | London Fashion Week

This February, we attended London Fashion Week, and worked with designer Lo to make his show accessible to blind and low vision guests. We invited brand strategist Victoria Seffens to experience fashion week with us.

Victoria shared how the warm atmosphere, thoughtful pacing of the models, and theatrical scale of the designs made the event particularly engaging for guests with low vision. She also highlighted how the expressive and artistic audio description elevated the experience - showing that accessibility can enhance creativity, not just support it.

Thank you, Victoria for joining us this MFA season and helping highlight the impact of inclusive experiences such as these🧡

Hair&Care featured in for our Making Fashion Accessible initiative

Written by Chloe Mac Donnell, this article describes how we have utilised touch tours, swatch booklets and audio descriptions to create a unique sensory experience for our blind and low-vision guests to perceive Lo’s AW26 collection this London Fashion Week.

“I have enough vision that I can kind of see the general silhouette of a look on the catwalk and maybe the colours. So I used the fabric swatches when I could tell there was some detail I was missing. Having the capacity to feel, imagine and sense the detail opened the whole show up to me so I could feel completely part of it.”

This piece eloquently highlights what we work towards at Hair&Care. Through our Making Fashion Accessible initiative, we continue to create inclusive spaces for blind and low-vision individuals within the fashion world.

Thank you Chloe for sharing our work 🧡
