Today, 220 beneficiaries happily received Zakat. Zakat is their rightful due and an obligation upon us. Alhamdulillah, the distribution was a great success, and our teams worked tirelessly to make it happen.

Alhamdulillah, today in Sunamganj, we distributed cash zakat to 220 families. We choose to provide cash assistance because it gives families the dignity and flexibility to buy what they urgently need most.

May this zakat bring ease, relief, and barakah to every household.

Zakir Miah, a father of 6, earns just 177 BDT a day working long hours in the tea gardens.

After a full day of labour, he returns home with only enough to cover a simple dinner and breakfast for the next day. Lunch is often a luxury, both because of the cost and the demands of work.

His son has been unwell and urgently needed medication. Through your Zakat, Zakir was able to buy the medicine his son needs and still celebrate Eid with his family.

This is why we chose to distribute cash in hand, giving families dignity, choice, and relief where it’s needed most.

Alhamdulillah, today Zakat was delivered directly to 231 families in Burjan Tea Estate.

After 3 months of hard work by the UK & Bangladesh teams, visiting homes, carrying out need assessments, and identifying the most vulnerable families, the Zakat was delivered cash in hand.

Why cash? because every family’s needs are different: food, medicine, debt, or essentials for their children. This maintains their dignity and choice.

Workers in areas like Burjan Tea Estate continue to face generational poverty, surviving on as little as 177 BDT (£1) a day.

May Allah accept it from everyone involved.

Giving Zakat as cash is important because it allows recipients to meet their most urgent needs while preserving their dignity. However, not all projects are Zakat-eligible; Zakat must be given to the eight categories of recipients mentioned in the Qur’an (Surah At-Tawbah 9:60), such as the poor and the needy. Therefore, general projects like building mosques, schools, hospitals, or community facilities are usually not eligible because they do not directly give ownership of the funds to eligible individuals, which is a key requirement for valid Zakat distribution.

Why RDF Global?

RDF Global is a grassroots organisation built organically by dedicated brothers and volunteers, professionals from a wide range of backgrounds, who came together with a shared intention to serve for the sake of Allah SWT.

Alhamdulillah, together we have raised substantial funds that are delivered directly on the ground. We do not rely on third-party organisations, which allows us to maintain transparency, control, and trust in how projects are implemented.

Every project goes through a thorough needs assessment before beneficiaries are selected, ensuring that support reaches those who genuinely need it most.

By the will of Allah, we have maintained a 100% donation policy. We have no paid staff and no office overheads. This means every pound raised goes directly to the cause it was intended for.

May Allah accept from us, grant barakah in our efforts, and enable us all to do even more. Ameen
