Lewisham Council's Public Health are launching a programme, aimed at improving cancer screening uptake and reducing inequalities in uptake across Lewisham Borough.
Diversity - Health & Well-being CiC, will be undertaking promotional activity to:
• Raise awareness of cancer screening programmes in culturally appropriate ways.
• Improve understanding of some of the barriers to screening faced by communities, and to understand why existing messaging is not recognised/accepted.
• Improve trust in messaging and local cancer screening services.

Greetings Queens and Kings,

Please come with friends and family to join author and heritage consultant S.I. Martin on a walking tour across 500 years of Deptford's Black History.

We will look at sites of Black resistance in 1948 and on the waterfront in the 1780s.

Special attention will be given to seafarers and their families, their settlement and patterns of worship from the early 1500s onward.

The walk should take approx. 1 and 30 minutes, starting outside Mereton Mansions, (Do you remember the old Charrington House!) Broomhill Road, SE8 4HS and will end by the riverside on Watergate Street.

Congratulations to the Hummingbird Senior Citizens Club in Catford, in South East London for putting on a magnificent Caribbean Afternoon Tea! It was wonderful to see the old time china teapots, cups and saucers, was fraif to touch them (lol) … that are in our parents cabinets till today, never used on show! 😂 Well done to see the young people from the Young Leaders Academy, who hosted and served the elders … this is what you call intergenerational and true community spirt! 🙏🏾

Join the Queens Walking Group at London’s biggest street party as the streets of west London are filled with Caribbean colours, music and flavours.

We will be playing with the UK ‘s MAS band - *MAHOGANY Carnival Arts* (please Google)
*Bank Holiday Sunday 25th August and Monday 26th August 2024* (You do not have to participate in both days)!

This year is very special for the Queens Walking Group, we will have our own section in the band! The costumes we have been invited to wear are amazingly reflective of the Queens Walking Group, and the invitation to participate should not be missed.
