💙🐚 In Bến Tre, Vietnam, local fishers worked together to protect young clams, restore mangroves and manage the fishery as a cooperative: https://bit.ly/42WunNG

Today, their hard work has paid off:

▫️ The clam stock is thriving

▫️ Families earn more

▫️ The fishery is MSC certified.

A great example of how caring for the ocean strengthens communities, too.

This , let’s remember that protecting our planet is a responsibility we all share 🌍

Marine environments are incredibly important to sustaining life on Earth, and they need our care more than ever 💙

At the MSC, certified fisheries are committed to doing their part by actively working to minimise their impact on marine animals and coastal ecosystems.

Together, small actions, like choosing MSC labelled products in your next shop, can make a big difference.

In the Yucatán Peninsula, these local fishers rely on simple tools and thoughtful techniques to locate octopus🐙

The process is slow, but it helps protect the ocean while supporting a more stable future for coastal communities.

🫶🌊Cornish hake was once in serious decline, but local fishers helped turn things around. By using slightly larger mesh sizes and following a strong rebuilding plan, they allowed more young fish to grow and replenish the stock: https://bit.ly/42WunNG

Today, the fishery is MSC certified and thriving proving that small changes can make a big difference for our ocean.

🌊🤝 Soft waves. Nets lowered gently.

Scientists and fishers talking, listening… Once divided, now working as one.

This is what collaboration sounds like.

🎣New Zealand’s Hoki fishers took action before a crisis hit. When they saw signs of fewer fish, they voluntarily reduced their catch and worked closely with scientists to better understand the stock: https://bit.ly/42WunNG

Their early action helped keep Hoki healthy and protected the fishery for the future. Today, it remains MSC certified and thriving, a true success story!

🎬 🇵🇹 In Portugal, the sardine is more than a fish. It’s history. Culture. Livelihood. Identity. From bustling ports to factory floors, from family businesses to national traditions, the sardine has shaped communities for generations.

We think it’s a story worth telling so we have put together a short film that explores how fishers, scientists and industry, in Spain and Portugal came together to stop sardines being overfished:🔗 https://bit.ly/4cZqEoD

Because when a shared resource carries shared meaning, collaboration becomes essential.

Have you heard about the MSC certified fisheries that are protecting sea turtles?

💙 Australian Northern Prawn Fishery, use Turtle Exclusion Devices (TEDs) that allow prawns to be caught while letting turtles safely escape, reducing bycatch by up to 99%.

💙 In Réunion Island and Fiji, fishers have been trained to use rescue kits to safely release turtles.

💙 Every year, fishers around the world, from Australia to India to the UK, work with the MSC to organise a beach clean-up so turtles don’t have to swim in polluted water and to stop them from getting caught in plastic waste.

Sea turtles have been part of our oceans for over 120 million years, playing a vital role in keeping seagrass beds and coral reefs healthy. That’s why fisheries, scientists, and communities are working together to protect them 🤝
