Thank you Wendell Berry!

Wendell Berry, 1934–2026.
Some people write about the natural world. Some people spend their lives trying to belong to it. Wendell Berry did both.

He understood something that seems increasingly easy to forget, that the land is not simply scenery around our lives. It is where we live, where we work, where we remember, where we bury our dead, and where we learn what it means to stay.

He wrote about soil, fields, woods, animals, neighbours and the quiet responsibilities of being rooted somewhere. Perhaps that is why his words have meant so much to so many people who find themselves drawn back to the old paths, the fields and the trees.

He reminded us that a good life does not necessarily mean going further. Sometimes it means paying closer attention to the place beneath your feet.

Rest well, Wendell.
