Arabic speakers read aloud the names of Palestinians killed in historic Palestine by the Israeli state, its forces and settlers since the establishment of the State of Israel on 14 May 1948. The reading ran 24 hours a day for 7 continuous days until the list was complete. Where a name had not been recorded, the reader said the Arabic word مجهول (Majhul), meaning “Unknown”, followed by the location of the death.

ISRAELI STATE CRIMES IN PALESTINE SINCE 14 MAY 1948, a durational performance by , concluded at 2:28AM Tuesday at 6 Stannary Street, London, SE11 4AA.

For 152 hours, 30 minutes, Arabic speaking performers read aloud, continuously, the names of Palestinians killed in historic Palestine by Israeli state, its forces, proxies, citizens and collaborators since the establishment of the State of Israel on 14 May 1948.

The list is not complete. The ongoing occupation, displacement, destruction of archives and restrictions on access to records mean gaps inevitably remain. In the context of the ongoing genocide in Palestine and the continued recovery of names and records, this is not a final account, but part of an ongoing process of gathering and checking names to honour as many victims as possible.

These records exist largely because of the work of the Palestinian people and their commitment to documenting and remembering their lives and deaths. The work of recording those killed by the Israeli state continues beyond the performance, undertaken by scholars and organisations.

Where a victim’s identity has not been recorded, each individual is represented by the Arabic word مجهول (Majhul), meaning “Unknown”, followed by the place of their death.

Names read from Gaza in the period October 2023–May 2026 prepared by Iraq Body Count (IBC) from Gaza Ministry of Health information received 07 May 2026, and provided for this project on 17 September 2026.
