🌍⚡ Last week we were delighted to welcome Rachel Blake MP, Deputy Mayor for Energy & Environment Mete Coban, and the Co-operative Party to see our solar project on the Middlesex Street Estate.

As the first community energy co-operative in the City of London and Westminster, Aldgate Solar Power has been recognised as a beacon project - showing how communities can lead the way to a fairer, greener London.

Community energy is all about co-operative values in action:

Last week, we had fantastic stakeholder and sessions with Aldgate Solar Power, Community Energy London, Repowering London.

We discussed current and future projects for generation, of , building , and . Our colleagues shared some of their success stories with and projects, a comprehensive guide and for air source , and ideas for overcoming and challenges.

As part of on Saturday 20th January we teamed up with Worshipful Company of Fuellers to provide free Winter Warm packs to local residents in Aldgate. The day was a tremendous success! Thank you to everyone who came along to see us on the Middlesex Street Estate. In total we handed out 240 Eveready energy efficient lightbulbs, 120 Radflek radiator reflector sheets and 200 metres of Stormguard draught excluders. That is enough lightbulbs to light up every flat on the Estate! 💡⚡Big thanks to Community Energy London for their help in making this initiative happen.

PLEASE SHARE⚡️Aldgate Solar Power will be offering FREE winter warmer packs to Middlesex Street Estate residents. This Saturday 20 January 2024, 11am-noon on the podium.

Each pack will help reduce energy costs and contain:

- Radiator reflectors for use behind your radiators
- 1x Draught excluder to reduce draughts through doors & windows
- 6x LED energy efficient light bulbs

Come and grab a pack on Saturday on the podium. Limited number of packs - first come first served. Once they are gone they are gone. 11am onwards. See you there 💡

Aldgate Solar Power (ASP) with the support of Repowering London and funded by Aldgate Connect BID ran on 15th July the third Creative Energy Club at the Portsoken Community Centre in the City of London.

Local residents made beautiful paper lanterns with solar lights, and learnt more about our broken energy system, the role played by ASP and community energy in shaping a local, greener and more affordable energy system that always works for everybody.

In September ASP will host an exhibition of all the beautiful artwork produced during the series of 3 creative energy club, this will be open to all the community and be a new opportunity to connect with the beauty of local art and the urgency of a new energy system. In the coming weeks the venue and date will be confirmed!!!!!

Our next free Creative Energy Club will be taking place tomorrow (15th of July) at the Portsoken community centre 2pm - 5pm. 🙌 A huge shout-out to Clive Lewis MP for featuring Aldgate Solar Power in his latest blog post! It's inspiring to see being promoted in the East of England. We're excited about the potential for more projects in Norwich South.

Clive's recent amendment to the Energy Bill, aimed at eradicating fuel poverty through a , is a game-changer. We're also thrilled to see his backing for the manifesto, a crucial step towards the systemic change our energy system urgently needs.
