Amidst the recent heatwave, our garden volunteers and clients have been working especially hard to keep our garden spaces in good shape.

Here are some pictures of the Tuesday allotment this week. Our team have been busy setting up hoops and netting for brassicas, planting, picking flowers and herbs, pinching out and staking tomatoes, harvesting our last potatoes 💜

Refugee Week 2026 was a beautiful week in our day centres! Refugee Week 🧡

Miki from UAL UAL (University of the Arts London) ran a joyful workshop on creative printing which our clients absolutely loved.

On Monday we screened 3 short films to a full hall of visitors, all covering themes of migration and specially chosen by our volunteer coordinator Issy to be those most resonant with the Monday client group.

We screened Dreamers by Joy Gharoro-Akpojotor, a feature film following a q***r love story set in a detention centre, to a small group of our Wednesday clients.

To end the week, our resident DJ Peter got the tunes going in the garden, playing music from across the world with requests from clients, volunteers and staff played out.

And the food from our awesome kitchen team was as delicious as always.

Huge thanks to GALA Festival GALA Festival for supporting our fundraising again this year. A team of SDCAS volunteers talked to festival-goers about our activities, sold t-shirts and raised on-the-spot donations totalling over £4000! It was a weekend of sunshine and good vibes in Peckham Rye Park and our volunteer Laura has written more about it on our website, link in bio.

are showing a free screening of the fantastic film 🎥‘Everybody to Kenmure Street’.

It’s being shown at The Green on Sunday 21st at 2:30pm and they will be collecting donations for SDCAS. Some of our volunteers will be there with homemade cakes and tea for attendees to enjoy afterwards 😋
