Casting done, rehearsals in full swing, set being built, costumes created, props being sourced and made. 'The Box of Delights' is a magical adventure, as Kay Harker and his two friends, the feisty Maria and her brother, the dependable (if slightly dull) Peter find themselves in the middle of a battle between two wizards for the possession of a box capable of turning your wildest dream into reality. The wolves are running, and Christmas, even the world, is at stake! See our website for details, and tickets are on sale now! www.twcoulsdon.org.uk

Auditions for our Christmas production 'The Box of Delights' begin next week on the 7th September, 8pm at the Coulsdon Community Centre, Jubilee Hall. On Monday we'll read through the script, getting a feel for it, and trying different people out across the variety of roles, from excitable children and femme fatales to craven rats and evil wizards. On Wednesday 9th, same place, same time, we'll run groups of people through a number of scenes, and if people have a particular desire to try out for a specific role we'll do our best to give them a shot at it. Casting will take place quickly, to allow rehearsals to begin on Monday 14th. For more information, check the website at twcoulsdon.org.uk

'Oh What a Lovely War' - final four performances, starting tomorrow!

Enticed perhaps by these oh-so-hot summer days, over 600 of you came to see 'Oh What a Lovely War' last week, staged in our usual leafy glade in the grounds of Coulsdon Manor Hotel. Thank you so much - we hope you enjoyed the show.

We have just four performances left. From Tuesday 4th to Friday 7th August, all at 7.45pm.
And the forecast for the week ahead is for yet more warm, dry weather. So don't miss it!

This year's performance is staged 'in the round' - with you, our lovely audience, sitting on three sides of the playing place and the action taking place right in front of you.
This means you should never be more than two or three rows from the front and will enjoy a splendid view of the play, up close and personal.

'Oh What a Lovely War' opens tomorrow!

The weather is set fair, the stage is set, the show awaits.
Our sparkling summer open air production, 'Oh What a Lovely War', opens in our usual leafy glade in the grounds of Coulsdon Manor Hotel at 7.45pm Wednesday 29th July.

This year's performance is staged 'in the round' - with you, our lovely audience, sitting on three sides of the playing place and the action taking place right in front of you.
This means you should never be more than two or three rows from the front and will enjoy a splendid view of the play, up close and personal.

Audience seating is on a first come, first served basis. Please bring something to sit on - ideally a low-backed chair that won't block the view of anyone sitting behind you. Or, if you're feeling limber, just a rug or blanket to sit on at the front. Please also bring warm clothing, because even on hot summer days it can get breezy by the end of the evening.

And now, here are a few shots of dress rehearsals of the play in its lovely sylvan setting 😊

It's just two weeks to our open air production of 'Oh What a Lovely War'. Tickets via twcoulsdon.org.uk

This classic piece of British musical theatre retells the story of the First World War through a cavalcade of lively episodes laced with black humour and irony. All set to rousing and evocative songs of the Great War era, accompanied by our six-piece live band.

This year's performance is staged 'in the round' - with you, our lovely audience, sitting on three sides of the playing place and the action taking place right in front of you.
This means you should never be more than a couple of rows from the front and will enjoy a splendid view of the play, up close and personal.

Our stage set doesn't get fully built until we move to the grounds of Coulsdon Manor Hotel, so we can't show you exactly how it's going to look (nor all the spectacular lighting effects we have planned). But here's a handful of our latest rehearsal shots anyway, so you can see how it's shaping up 😊

The countdown is well and truly on for our whizz-bang production of Oh What a Lovely War!

We’ve been going “over the top” in rehearsals, including sweating our way through the recent heatwave in nearly full army kit. Whoever said the theatre was glamorous clearly never did a summer show!

As always, we’ll be performing outdoors in the beautiful grounds of . Think a tranquil, leafy setting, twinkling fairy lights, a bar and pizzas close by, our fabulous front-of-house team to welcome you, and a cracking cast ready to entertain. What more could you want for a summer evening?

If you’ve not booked yet, then please do! We’d love to see you there.

With 'Oh What A Lovely War' in its last weeks of rehearsal, we still found time to support the Old Coulsdon Village Fair on Saturday 4th July. To ring the changes, we decided to put on a show, 'What's In A Name?' or 'A Tale of Two Coulsdons'. Written by our own Richard Lloyd, and with a cast of just three, it was a light-hearted potted history of the place we live in, from its Anglo-Saxon origins and the many variations of its name, through historical highlights to the modern day, all in less than 15 minutes! Performed three times during a scorching afternoon, the audience were well entertained. Just imagine what we can do with a whole evening! Tickets available for 'Oh What A Lovely War' through our website now, the first night is just three weeks away... www.twcoulsdon.org.uk
