Your Place

Your Place Your Place is a charity dedicated to solving homelessness in east London, one person at a time.

We’re here to offer hope, a home and a healing place to grow, where people who’ve lost their homes can get the individual support they need within a safe, caring community. Our mission is to build hope and enable lasting change to end homelessness for people in east London. We’re a growing charity, helping people who’ve lost their homes to regain their self-belief and rebuild their lives. We work

closely with each person who comes through our doors, guiding them to meet their own needs through one-to-one and peer-led support. With specialist teams and a compassionate community around them, residents make their own journey to independent living — and to a better place.

A home is more than four walls. It’s belonging, stability and the chance to rebuild. In Newham, where so many face housing insecurity, Your Place provides tailored support that meets people where they are.

From emotional wellbeing to practical guidance, we walk alongside each person on their journey. Our goal is simple but powerful: to ensure everyone has the opportunity to thrive, not just survive.

When coming out led to abuse and threats of violence, Leo found safety and acceptance at Your Place.

At just 19, he was forced to leave home. Sofa‑surfing, unsafe environments and constant fear took a toll on his mental health - until a room became available at Your Place. With support from our team, Leo finally had space to breathe, heal and rebuild.

With stability and understanding, Leo’s mental health improved, he got into work, and he started looking forward to the future. 🏳️‍🌈

Rising youth unemployment is pushing more people into homelessness across the UK. New figures show nearly 124,000 young people were homeless or at risk in 2024–25 - the third year in a row this has increased.

At Your Place, we’re seeing the impact of this crisis. While we support adults of all ages, one trend is clear: last year, the number of people aged 24 and under we supported doubled.

When work becomes insecure or out of reach, housing stability is often the first thing people lose. This isn’t about individual failure; it’s about a system where too many people don’t have a safety net.

That’s why our work matters – providing safe, supported housing alongside opportunities for education, training and employment so people can move towards lasting stability.

For people rebuilding after homelessness, confidence grows when they have stability and people who believe in them. That’s why we’re proud that 94% of residents feel more confident living independently because of the support they received at Your Place. A supportive community makes all the difference. 🏠💜

“People really care, and so many people I’ve met have helped me get to where I am now.”

This Mental Health Awareness Month, we’re sharing Jason’s journey - a reminder of how vital safe accommodation and compassionate support are for people facing homelessness and mental health challenges.

Jason worked throughout his time being homeless, but the stress and exhaustion pushed him into a breakdown. When he arrived at Your Place, he finally felt safe. He found people who listened, helped him access healthcare, supported him with practical tasks and encouraged him to rebuild his confidence.

Today, Jason has a home of his own and hope for the future. Your support makes stories like his possible.

This month, Malik marked 22 years of being on the team! His story is a reminder of the dedication behind the scenes, and the people who show up every day to make Your Place what it is. 💜

“I’ve been at Your Place for 22 years, and I’m still here because I enjoy what I do and the impact our work has on people. When residents arrive, they’re often at their most vulnerable. To then see them grow, leave happier, and move to independent living is very rewarding. The moments that stay with me most are when someone comes back just to say thank you - telling us they’ve found a job, they’re doing well, and they’re happy. That gives me motivation, knowing I’ve played a small part in helping someone find their place in society.

I’m really proud of my journey here. I started as a porter, handling deliveries and supporting the maintenance team, and from there I’ve had the opportunity to grow - moving into a receptionist role, then evening duty manager, and now my current role as reception manager. Each step has taught me something new and pushed me to develop.”

Every day is a chance to rewrite the story.

Anthony arrived at Your Place unsure of what came next. But with support, space and people who believed in him, he discovered the version of himself he always hoped he could be.

Today, he’s a community poet, a charity worker and a friend to those who need the same support he once did.

One year ago, we opened The Harbour Project to address a critical gap in homelessness services - the need for long-term, relationship‑based support that short-term or unsupported housing simply can’t provide.

Today, it's a place where people can connect, belong and begin to imagine a future again. Many are taking steps they hadn’t for years - returning to education, volunteering and rebuilding confidence.

Like Naz, who has experienced a lifetime of rejection linked to his autism. “From the moment I walked in, I experienced kindness. Now I feel hope.”

Together, we’re showing what’s possible when people are given the stability, community and long-term support they need to build a better future.
