Food of War Platform

n 2024–25, Food of War took part in the 15th Havana Biennial and in an artist residency at Arthaus Havana.

We went to Cuba to make work, share food, listen and collaborate. What we encountered became something much more complex — a landscape of generosity and scarcity, creativity and contradiction, intimacy and uncertainty.

Now, back in London, it is time to share what we experienced.

Today marks the first presentation of MAMACOCA / COCAMAMA at the Centro Nacional de las Artes Delia Zapata Olivella in Bogotá, as part of Futuro Coca. Festival Futuro Coca

Tomorrow, 12 July, we will present two additional performances of this work, which emerged from the artistic residency developed last year around the coca plant, its ancestral knowledge, and its cultural significance.

MAMACOCA / COCAMAMA is a living ritual where the body transforms into a coca shrub, inviting us to reflect on the plant beyond the narratives imposed upon it—reclaiming it as memory, territory, medicine, and community.
