Why do health workers do what they do? For their communities. For healthier futures. For impact that lasts.

This , we celebrate health workers in Côte d’Ivoire — and everywhere.

In the lead up to International Women’s Day, we’re choosing to highlight female ge***al schistosomiasis (FGS), which affects millions of women and girls yet remains one of the most overlooked women’s health issues.

Its symptoms often resemble sexually transmitted infections or cervical cancer, which can lead to frequent misdiagnosis and stigma.

Raising awareness and integrating FGS prevention and care into existing health services is key to ensuring every woman and girl can access the care they deserve.

We did it! 🎉

Thanks to your kindness and generosity, we reached the goal for our 'Treated like a child' campaign. Together, you’ve helped ensure 20,000 of the youngest children in Zanzibar can receive a treatment designed specifically for them, protecting them from parasitic worm disease.

We’re truly grateful to everyone who supported, shared, and championed this work. 🙏

A heartfelt thank you to the Helen and Michael Brown Charitable Trust and the Big Give for making the matched funding possible.

Stay tuned. We’ll keep you updated as this important work progresses in Zanzibar.

There’s only a little time left for your donation to be doubled. Every pound will be matched if you give before noon on 9 December.

Schistosomiasis is a neglected tropical disease that continues to affect the health and development of young children.

Reaching preschool age children has been difficult without a suitable treatment. A new formulation is now available, safe and effective, and finally able to protect the very youngest.

We are aiming to raise £100,000 so 20,000 children in Zanzibar can receive this new treatment against parasitic disease.

Our 'Treated like a child' campaign is focused on Zanzibar, where we’ve partnered with the Ministry of Health for more than a decade to tackle parasitic disease.

In 2025, this partnership helped deliver more than 3 million treatments for schistosomiasis, soil-transmitted helminthiasis and lymphatic filariasis. Schistosomiasis prevalence in school-aged children has now fallen to 2.41 percent, and new mapping is guiding a more targeted approach for 2026.

Alongside treatment, we support health education, disease mapping and Zanzibar’s One Health Systems Strengthening work.
